I live in an urban area, so I occasionally have to wait a couple of minutes for the unit to acquire a signal. But tonight, inexplicably, I absolutely couldn't get the thing to acquire a signal no matter what I did. I changed locations several times, eventually moving to a place with almost no cover at all, and it never got a signal. What was most bizarre was that, once I moved indoors, it continued to search for a signal, insteads of giving me the "are you indoors?" dialog box. Very frustrating. Any ideas? Is there a way to reboot the unit?

Turn the unit off then turn it back on.  That should allow it to find the signal.  I had that happen once, when I turned it off and back on.  It found a signal.

Just had this problem with a new one I bought my wife.  Per Garmin tech support: turn the unit off, press and hold the lap button, and turn the unit back on.  You'll get a message asking if you want to erase all personal data (or something like that).  Pick yes, and set the unit out in the open for 30 minutes.  This worked for me.  I'm at work and don't have the email in front of me, but I'm mostly sure it was the lap button.  If that doesn't get you the Erase Data message, then try the mode button.

Caveat: the issue with my wife's new one was that we could never get it acquire satelite after buying it.  This did work and fix our problem.
