Comments:

Started out easy, probably top 100 or so - went through mile 1 in 6:05. I thought I was running harder than that so I was expecting to see 5:50 or better. I hooked up with a 16 yr old kid - we picked off many people going toward mile 2 - went through 2 miles in 11:50 (5:45) so that couldn't have been right. We continued to move up and went through mile 3 in 18:01 (6:11) and I thought the effort was right for 6:00 pace but the miles were definitely off - not to worry, I just kept pushing this 16 yr old and we kept working together to catch people. At mile 4 we were 24:06 - so IF the mile marker was right, we were running right about what I thought I would do for the day. Then we caught and passed a group of 5 guys - moved on to mile 5 and the time was 30:30 (wtf??) how could I be picking up the pace, passing people and run a 6:24. Nuts. Unless I was running up a pretty good grade or losing it, would I fall off that much. Anyway, we pushed on and hit mile 6 at 36:45 - a 6:15 mile - and this was down hill, smelling the barn type mile - my 16 yr old buddy pulled over and puked - I ended up running the last 400m in 1:10 - no way is that right either. Either way - good effort for the day on tired legs. Pacing was good depite the course and I was pleased with the effort. Mesa sits as 1250 so not quite sea level but my legs felt good even after the 2:40 run on Tuesday. I am sure the 8-9 hours of sleep have helped.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Post race
Warm down:

Ran 1 mile back to the car.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Nothing, raced as hard as I could.

Event comments:

Good race. I'll be back in two years.

I thought I saw your name in the race results. I didn't think that Mike Ricci could run a 37 minute 10k especially the night after playing against the NJ Devils, so I said hmmm is that the BT guy?

I ran the race sick.
