Comments:

It's been 1.5 years since I've run an open 10k and I've never run one on a course with hills before so I didn't know what to expect. I went out a bit too fast initially but quickly adjusted within the first 800m. I just kind of stayed with the front pack and let a couple guys go off the front. I paced very consistently and settled in and kept my eye on a loose group of 5 guys spread out over 50m ahead of me. I just wanted to hold my position relative to them and see what I had left at the end. The last mile is a long hill climb and short steep downhill before hitting the flast for 600m to the finish. I run downhills well and picked off one guy, then another as we transitioned to the flats. Turning the last corner I made a move and split between to more guys but one of them cam back withing 50m and pulled a few strides ahead. We had about 100m left and I figured I'd sit on his heels and se if I couldn't out-sprint him to the line. 50m to go and I let it rip...he wasn't able to respond.

Nice race and finish in the top 5.   Sounds like it was pretty competitive.

Not bad for a hasher.

That's a great feeling when you can pick that many off at the end and have the best of it with the last guy.

Great job Joel.
