Swim
Comments: The swim was way, way shorter then 300 meters with the strong current pushing down the swim course. Before I knew it I was struggling to get back to the beach at the end of the course instead of being pushed further down the channel and off course. What would you do differently?: It all went well but I need to start further towards the front of the pack and then hold my position in the run into the water. Transition 1
Comments: T1 was good and I'm sure I passed a few guys. What would you do differently?: All good Bike
Comments: My bike section was great and I set a new pb for this course. I had one guy who I was duelling with all around the course which I’m sure made me ride faster. We keep on passing each other and pushing each other to ride faster. This guy finally managed to pull away from me towards the end of the bike leg but I passed him in T2 which was cool (I also managed to stay in front of him through to the finishing line as well which was a nice mental win for me). What would you do differently?: Setting a pb was fantastic so I need to keep up my training on the bike to keep on improving. Transition 2
Comments: T2 was fast and it all went well. What would you do differently?: Nothing really, it was all good. Run
Comments: I pushed as hard as I could on the run and I thought I was going fairly fast but later I compared my time to other races here and it wasn't that fast at all. I guess not being able to train hard with my busted ankle may have caused me to loose a bit of form. What would you do differently?: not roll my ankle.... Post race
Event comments: To set a new pb for the bike leg today was fantastic and it shows that all my extra training I have been doing is starting to pay off. I was also aiming to finish in the top 5 for my age group and to have achieved this as well, was very rewarding. I really enjoy the tri's at Bribie because it seems everybody is super friendly, it's a great course and they are always well organised. I'm already looking forward to the next Bribie tri in the new year. Last updated: 2006-11-26 12:00 AM

I arrived fairly early at Bribie and did the normal things, register, got numbered and set up my transition area. I met up with some buddies who were all keen for a good hit out so we headed off to the swim start area.
The tide was flowing very fast in the channel where the swim was going to take place which meant the swim was going to be lighting fast. My warm-up consisted of watching the event organisers struggling to anchor the swim marker buoys because the buoys kept drifting down stream with the fast current. I think they will need to invest in some bigger anchors.
