Run
Comments: I started exercising again in August after a long absence. When I began, I wasn't even able to walk a mile. After four weeks of training, it took me more than 19 minute to walk a mile. In October, I finished a 5K competitive walk in 47:07 and placed 25th of 105 in my age group. At this event, I was hoping to go under 44 minutes, but wasn't sure I could do it. I pushed really hard. The only person who passed me on the course was a man. I finished third overall, second woman and first in my age group. I got my FIRST HARDWARE!!! I improved by nearly 7 minutes in less than 2 months. I can't wait to start jogging now. I have been building up slowly and have waited to jog to reduce the risk of injury, but I am probably ready now. Post race
Event comments: Took too long to compute the competitive walk results. Also participants who run need to be immediately disqualified by officials on the course. Last updated: 2006-12-04 12:00 AM
