The weather outside is frightful, but dinner should be so delightful.  What should I make?

When it comes to that I really like clam chowder or the good old faithful  campbells chicken noodle and grilled cheese.

Cream corn soup!!!

General recipe is to add 1 part of creamed style corn with 1 part of broth, bring to boil. Remove from heat, add beaten egg. Stir to thicken. You may also add some corn starch to thicken as well, as long as you dissolve the starch in cold water first, then pour the mixture in. Salt and pepper to taste. You may also add some frozen peas and diced chicken breast into it. I like to get the smaller can (6oz, I think) to make it a meal for myself.

Chicken and veggie stew - with a grilled cheese sandwich. The stew recipe's from Southern Living and it is sooooo good!

Chicken-and-Vegetable Stew
Prep: 10 min., Cook: 1 hr.

1 (32-ounce) container fat-free chicken broth
4 skinned, bone-in chicken breast halves (about 2 1/4 pounds)
1 medium onion, chopped
2 celery ribs, chopped
1 (14-ounce) package frozen white corn
1 (16-ounce) package frozen baby lima beans
1 (14 1/2-ounce) can crushed tomatoes
1/3 cup ketchup
1/4 cup chopped country ham
1 tablespoon sugar
3 tablespoons red wine vinegar
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 to 1 teaspoon hot sauce
1 teaspoon dried marjoram

Bring broth to a boil in a Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add chicken, onion, and celery, and return to a boil. Reduce heat, and simmer 30 minutes or until chicken is tender. Remove chicken from pan, and let cool slightly.
Remove chicken from bones, discarding bones; shred chicken.

Add corn, next 9 ingredients, and chicken to Dutch oven. Bring to a boil; reduce heat, and simmer, stirring occasionally, 30 minutes or until beans are tender.

I love making chili or beef vegetable stew in the winter.  I can throw it all in the CrockPot during the day and come home to yummy warm food.

I love Coq au Vin over mashed potatoes. A great stick to your ribs meal.

The crock pot sits out from October to April in my house. I just made a "Bean Cuisine" soup. They are nice and easy. BUT you have to cook them long enough. I got started too late and now have some gassy issues from the beans! LOL. Good thing I work at home!

I love adding a smoky flavor to homemade soups by using a smoked turkey leg. It's better than a ham hock, becuase there is more meat and it has a better smoke quality to it. Awesome in white bean soup.

Now I'm getting hungry!

Thanks for sharing this recipe it was great.  The only thing I did differently was  exchange  peas for okra and no corn starch.  I love okra and when it cooks down it  thickens up so  no need for corn starch.

Again, thanks for  this meal idea.
