Pre-race routine:

Forgot my yogurt for the grape nuts. That could have been my demise.
Event warmup:

Just a quickie. Quick warm-up on the bike I mean! I'm just not used to these races, don't know how to warm up well. A mtn bike race I've got down pat, but starting out running or swimming??? I haven't a clue.

Comments:

I was actually quite cheerful. I was that annoying person who keeps striking up conversation with people on the way. Yeah, I think my Cytomax had something funny in it. So I started out at the front of the pack, because that is what I do, and after everyone passed me in the first mile or so I started counting how many people I passed. It took awhile... but I finally passed 6 people. Oh how sad is that.
What would you do differently?:

Run faster, duh!

legs were really wobbly, made me laugh a lot trying to get my bike shoes on. Then my son ran up and hugged me while I was doing it and I almost fell over. Not my fastest here...

Comments:

I felt so damn good on the bike! Yes that is a Nickelback song, and I should've been singing it. It felt gooooood. Thank goodness I have a strength you know? I also counted people I passed on this one. Any guesses? huh? 40. Yes, that was a big 4-0. I kicked a$$ on this one. Really, I loved every second of it. I don't really know my pace or time, except that my husband seems to think I avgd 23 mph, which could be true because I almost caught our friend who actually had a computer that said he avgd almost 20. I dunno. Sounds good to me!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Is this question really in here? Training! How many times do I need to say it??

Looks like you had a quality race.  I have a feeling I should keep an eye out for you on the course next time.  Averaging 23 mph on the bike is pretty damn quick!!!

looks like you rocked it.  reading that you "forgot the yogurt for your grape nuts" almost makes me want to tell you the magic shell story, but thats just a 13 year old's mind in my 27 year old body.

Definitely an awesome bike. I like the fact that your response for "cool down" was "standing around." This was the first race report that I filled out and the questions made me feel like a total moron who had no business racing. Pre-race routine? Well, I put the bike rack on my car and tightened it down. Warm up? Well, I jumped around while waiting in line for the port-a-potties. Cool down? I walked around, grabbed the free stuff, then loaded my bike back on my car.

I am definitely considering doing the next one. I guess it's not a Chilly Cheeks experience unless your cheeks actually get chilly. It was downright warm on race day.
