Comments:

Good race, pushed a bit, had I have known I was only 10min behind leaders I would have pushed a bit harder at the start to catch them. Hills were a bit hairy with 4 and 5 people accross, hoping off in the middle of the road, but managed to get around it all fairly quickly.

I think last year my pace was about the same till the south Perth section, last year I realy died off there, this year I picked it up a bit at that point, so all the riding etc must be paying off.
What would you do differently?:

Try and start in the A group next year I think, started in D this year and spent 20min getting past little old ladies on mountain bikes.
Post race
Warm down:

Rod eback to car 5-10km

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Slow and congested start.

Becoming very popular here in Perth, and why wouldn't it, it is a very flat coastal city with a river running right through it.

Here is the race link http://www.greatbikeride.com.au/ it is a very flat ride, with a couple of short but steep hilly sections.  Start is in waves according to anticipated average speed which you put down on the entry form, waves start at 1-2 min intervals.  It is draft legal, (I tried to avoid it most of the time as Iwas replacing a training ride with this race so wanted to get some benefit from it)  most of the leaders would have been riding in packs.

Was good fun, this is the 3 or 4th time i've done it, starting on the first one on a mt bike and taking almost 3 hours.
