Anyone have an interest in getting together and knocking out a solid ride, run, or swim? I'd love to setup a recurring weekend workout (Sat. or Sun.) and get a few of us together. I'm not some workout stud, in fact I'm a middle of the pack kind of guy so please don't be intimidated. I'm open to all suggestions! I'm in the San Fernando Valley portion of L.A. and wouldn't mind travelling a little to make this happen.

I'm also interested. I'm in Glendale and work in Pasadena, so Griffith Park or Rose Bowl work fine for me. However, I'm also happy to travel to other areas of LA.

Well, I'll offer up the first route for those that are interested.

Start: Topanga Canyon Blvd. & Ventura Blvd.
1. Head South on Topanga Cyn and take it to the Pacific Coast Highway.
2. Head NorthWest on Pacific Coast Highway until you reach Kanan.
3. Head North on Kanan until you reach Mulholland.
4. Head East on Mulholland until you reach Valley Circle Blvd.
5. Head East on Valley Circle Blvd. until you reach Topanga.
6. Head North on Topanga Canyon Blvd.
Finish: Topanga Canyon Blvd & Ventura Blvd.

This loop is ~ 50 miles and has some solid climbs in it. It takes me about 4.5 hours to do the loop. It took me 5.25 hours the first time I did it.

If anyone is interested, we can meet in the Ralph's Supermarket parking lot at the corner of Topanga Canyon Blvd & Ventura Blvd. I'd suggest we leave a bit early (7:00 a.m.) to avoid some of the afternoon heat and canyon traffic. Very few lights given the distance. If anyone is interested in taking this loop, shoot me a message or respond on the board. I usually do this route on Sundays, but I'd be open to doing it on Saturdays.

Sounds great. I would prefer Saturday if possible. Given how hot it has been lately, I also wouldn't mind leaving before 7:00. Neither of those, however, are dealbreakers for me. Fair warning: I'm still on a MTB, so I'm a bit slow.

I'm down to move it to Saturday and to start earlier.... Just not this week. I'm down to start doing this next week. Any others want to get in on action?

So no bites on the bike. Would an open water swim or a run be better?

I've gone to LA Tri Club's Zuma Sunday the past two weeks. It is at 8:30 AM Sunday @ Zuma beach. People go for 1/2, 1, 1-1/2 or 2 mile swims. Then some groups go for a ride up PCH or a group goes running. Today one group got together to do the Malibu Tri. They did the swim, bike and run. It is pretty laid back and everyone is welcome. You do not need to be a member.

I'm interested in your loop someday Chris. It doesn't really fit in with my training plans for the LA Tri (Oly) or the Malibu Tri. After those I'm in.
