Hey nice run Jonathan, where was the hill? Your HR #'s seemed pretty consistent.

I'm on a taper for this weeks sprint race, here's my plan:

  • M - 35 min ride (did 37m race pace and u-turn practicing
  • T- 45 min run (did 26m bike & 32m run)
  • W - 25 min swim (will swim the race course)
  • Th - 20 min run and 20 min bike
  • F - off (should swim)
  • S - off
  • S - Race

Hope everyone had a great weekend, I slept 10hrs last night, I'm either getting old or I needed it after a hard ride, spending 4+ hrs in the sun at the beach and pigging out at a cookout!

Not a big hill, but it was on miles 2 and 4. You can see a small spike in the avg HR in those miles.

Had an enjoyable weekend training and otherwise...On Saturday, I rode for a bit more than 3 hrs with some friends who are training for IMLP.  We started just after first light.  The terrain was rolling to hilly and was a good WO.  After the ride, we did a short t-run.  I met Jonathan and a few others from our local tri club for a dip in Lake Lanier on Sunday...Jonathan swam like a fish...I needed my water wings...moved Sunday's run to yesterday and managed to get in a 5K at pretty much Z1/2 pace and then a couple of 1/2 mile pick-ups...taught spin class this AM....legs have been a bit tight since Saturday's ride/run....thankfully, the rest of this week is slow, per "plan:"

  • Wed = Brick (30 min bike/15 min run - Z1/2 with some Fartleks thrown in on each)
  • Thurs = OFF
  • Fri = Brick (1 hr bike/30 min run - Z1/2 first half of each; Z4+ second half)
  • Sat = OFF
  • Sun = OFF

This schedule works out perfect, because my better half is out of town this weekend; I 'll be able to hang with the kids and not feel guilty about blowing off training.

I'd like to get in on the plan posting.  I've found that I have to be very flexible with my planned training though.  Last year I let my tri habit get in the way of my other commitments, so plans often change, but at least I'm doing something.

I'm still building up to my 60 miler June 16th.  I did 26 miles yesterday morning and I'm hoping to do 40 on Sat.

Ah $hit, I feel horrible today.  I wokeup at 5:30 in the morning with a pounding headache and some serious sinus cavity pressure.  Went to the doc and strep test was negative asmy daughter was sick last weekend with it.  On Z-pack but right now, I feel bad bad and getting some cramping in my legs.  I'm leaving work and going home to rest and hydrate.  Crossing my fingers that I'm ok for Sundays race.  Same thing happened to me last year too, doc said he'll see me in a year, how wacked is that!

Good news BP was 107/72 but pulse rate was high due for obvious reasons!

My sprint race report is up.  Swim as usually sucked, bike was pleasent, and the run was ok after I got past the 1st mile.  Tod is no longer a virgin, I couldn't find him afterwards to give him a hug! Wink

Rest day today then I'm going to work this month for next months sprint, I MUST DO BETTER!

So what's the plan this week guys?

I just checked what I need to do for my next race, in order to get a solid MOP finish I need another 4 to 6 minutes off from last years time.  Its a tough race that pulls in a lot of military from Fort Drum, those army guys are in shape!  So to do this I will need a solid 5 weeks of work and am going to do it in 2 build cycles.  So here's my plan for this week:

Planned Training

2007-06-05  Run: 30m
2007-06-06 Swim: 40m
2007-06-07 Bike: 1h , Run: 50m
2007-06-09 Bike: 1h 45m
2007-06-10 Run: 40m

Here's my "Plan"

Saturday's bike got bumped to today (Monday) but it was a good one.  The rest of the week:

  • light strength
  • short bike or run
  • heavy strength
  • long bike

Not a very strict plan, but I'm tri-ing.

This weeks (looks alot like last weeks....)

  • Mon - swim 45m/2000y; bike 50m
  • Tue - Run 3 miles
  • Wed - swim 1h/3200y; run 6 miles
  • Thur - bike 1 hr, run 3 miles
  • Fri - swim 1500/30m
  • Sat - ride 1h30m.  I think this might be the day we are doing a swim fund raiser that I told Fun Killer I'd try to swim in.  It's 4 hours total and I don't know what my goals should be.  Maybe 2 hour swim just to see if I can do it.
  • Sun - ride 30 min; run 10 miles
  • Fun Killer finished her first tri - Ryka IronGirl. 2:07 total time.  I'm very proud of her.

Hey you GA guys! I just wanted to thank you for the beautiful weather for my vacation! Loved North GA! Going again next year!

Don should be jealous that I did a MTB ride (Unicoi Gap) with 5-7 miles up hill. Got to do some whitewater rafting and hiking. Beautiful up there!

Bah! I'm piecing back together a plan so I can finish my sprint at the end of the month. BBQ at my house is still on after the Mistletoe Sprint.  Beer and Food provided.  Directions on the way. I live about 20 minutes from the race by car.

Work has been a and I'm switching jobs to leave the VA system and take a job in Augusta with a private practice group.  More on that soon. Sorry I've been gone for so long. Depressed blah blah blah, working too hard blah blah blah.
