Subject: Why Men Should Not be in Charge of Kids

So I get home from a long day of messing around on BT work and my family greets me at the door. My husband, David, also know as Portland's Greatest Cable Guy (PGCG), had the day off so he was in charge of all three of my angels.

I glance around for my baby and he's not around. "Um, hon? Where's Ian?"

He doesn't glance up from his chores (He was being a good wifey and sweeping the floor) and mutters, "He put himself down for a nap."

"What do you mean he put himself down for a nap?"

"Well, I noticed he wasn't around anymore so I went looking for him and I found him in his bed asleep."

"OK....so how long has he been asleep?"

"Um...I dunno...probably a few hours."

"What do you mean you don't know? How long before you realized he wasn't around?"

He pauses and then shrugged, "Um...I guess a few hours?"

At this point I fight the urge to grab him by the throat and squeeze until his eyes bulge out. I want to scream but I calmly ask, "A few hours? Babe, he's little, he can get into trouble...you really should keep a closer eye on him." But on the inside I was screaming, "You friggin' idiot! That's my BABY!!!"

Grr. I know we're not supposed to have favorites as parents....but you don't understand...he's SO CUTE!! And he tells everyone that his mom is a Princess. *sigh*

Tell me you wouldn't say "yes" to anything he asked for:

I wouldn't say yes to anything he asked for.

But I'm mean like that.  I tell 7 year olds that they need to get jobs.

trigods - 2006-12-27 9:28 AM so when you went to check on your son was he still alseep?:

He was...so I cuddled up with him and gently woke him up.  I asked him why he took a nap and he said, "I got tired."  (duh)  But by this time it was after 5 so he didn't go to bed last night until LATE!! And he kept getting up to "check on mommy".

OMG Ty...those pictures are awesome!!

You're Husband did all he could to put him to sleep and what do you do???  You come home and WAKE him up.  What gives...

You should have given your husband sex for doing such a great job at letting him nap and not wake him up.

Except Ian put HIMSELF down for a nap!! Sex was the last thing PGCG was going to get. The last time Ian was left alone for more than a few minutes, he painted the hallway outside his room with his finger painting kit.

You're looking at it the wrong way...You're hubby was teaching him responsability (take a nap when tired) and you're son was trying to get in touch with his interior decorator side.

You should really re-evaluate how you're looking at this...

No need to thank me...Free of charge for you.

Sounds like most marriages.  He's still paying for something that happened months ago.

In some instances, its years man. Even decades. Some women have elephant memory.

Tell me about it.  I was giving her the benefit of the doubt.
