Subject: Portland bike rental?
Hoping someone on the West Coast can help me out with this one. I'm going to see a friend in late July/early August in Portland and we're going to do a triathlon together. She just moved to Portland recently.

I'm hoping to rent a bike for the race so I don't have to fly my bike out there for a sprint-distance triathlon.

Does anyone know of a shop that'd rent a GOOD bike to me for a week? I prefer something with mostly Ultegra components. I'm not picky on brand and not worried about the cost.

veloce bicycles on se hawthorne i believe rents good road bikes 80$ for 3 days ....

You could also ask River City Bicycles: http://www.rivercitybicycles.com/ I don't know if they rent, but their email and phone number is on their site. They have a huge inventory of bikes and are very active in the biking community. They are a one-store bike shop.

Also, Bike Gallery may be able to help you. They are a local chain (portland Metro area only) and have 6 stores. They are also active in sponsoring events, etc.  http://www.bikegallery.com/content/Bike_Gallery/home.html
