Very good year for me!! Lots of first, much farther distance, and a heck of a lot of fun! I tell my friends I propelled myself over 3100 miles training/racing this year if you add bike, swim and run miles together.

I started training and logging mid-March, after 20 years of nothing.  I have been working slowly to build my base to get to bigger volume without injury.  I learned very quickly not to push too fast too soon, or I would pay a price.  I plan to increase my volume next year by 75-100% to be able to race some oly's and finish the season with a 1/2 IM distance race.  Might help to add a little more strength time in there as well.

There's a bit of bike (trainer) time which no distance was added. My swim could have been much better, but I only swam during 7 of the 12 months. I plan to be more balanced this year.

Who would put trainers, treadmills or spinning into a log?

Ummm, me.  What's wrong with logging this time and given distances?  Due to only being able to train while my son is in the gym day care, the majority of my run training will be on treadmill and majority of bike training will be on trainer during nap times.  Not that I care since logs are for my use anyway, but just curious as to why you would diminish this type of logging.

And, I just got my bike in May! I will take it, but still try to top it next year
Thanks for the encouragement Bters!!!

Well my first Tri season/year looks like this:

Bike 34h 55m          425.38 miles

Run 70h 36m           356.24 miles

Swim 41h 28m         60243.5 meters

Not bad considering my season started in April when I couldn't run more then a mile without feeling like I was going to hurl.

This year I look forward to building more base and completing my first 1/2 iron.

I'm certainly don't have the monster distances/times that some of y'all have but considering this was my first year as an "athlete",  I'm damn proud of this.  I used to HATE to run and it boggles my mind that I ran >500 miles in 2006.  2007 will see a far greater number in the biking category.

Compared to '05 this was over double the swimming distance, almost double the run distance, and I only gave up about 15% of my bike distance. I'm not fast at anything but my running still needs the most attention, by far.

A very off season.  The run totals include all my walk miles from my marathon training.  I had started by recording walking as a seperate activity, but wanted to track mileage so I included it as running.

The time is right, though I didn't log trainer distance on the bike, and since I'm from Chicago, that's a fair bit of the year I was confined to riding indoors.  It's probably a bit over 3000 miles if I logged all of the trainer miles too.

464 hours spent on the big three.  Plus some other random stuff that doesn't account for much ( yoga, skiing, weights...

And 2007 should be even better
