I know a few of us are heading up to LP to cheer on the Riff Raff at IMLP.  I have not booked a hotel room yet so I was wondering who is planning on going and where are you staying (or where do you recommend I stay).

I am planning on heading up Saturday morning and leaving on Monday.

I was going to look into lodging this week. I will let you know what I find. I can tell you it won't be some fancy bed and breakfast. I'm guessing we'll end up 30-60 minutes out of town...

HI. I just looked at lodging for that weekend in Lake Placid and well there is NONE available
Everything I saw was booked.

If Sean and I go, we will likely stay with a friend at Lake George.

Is anyone else volunteering at the event?

I'm not at all surprised you couldn't find anything in LP. Most places sell out the day of registration. Hell, there was a waiting line at the place we are staying at when we got there last year, right after registration!

In any event, there are places to stay in the neighboring towns. Lake George seems like it's a pretty long drive, especially that early in the a.m., and with traffic...

That is a bummer. I will have to look then in neighboring towns. I am not too familiar with that area.
If I find anything I will post it

Plattsburgh isn't all that far from LP. This Super 8 Motel is supposedly 45 miles away. That's not too bad.

I can recommend that you do not stay at the KOA campground in a leaky tent if it's raining.

Other than that, you're on your own.

UPDATE...so far I haven't found one closer than 45 miles.  I may book one of these as a back-up and then see if anyone is looking for a roommate come race time.  The again, I may just sleep in my car like Dan

Mark, you could pull off the car sleeping thing. I think you could fit a kitchen and bathroom in that tank of yours. Baity, not so much...

I will probably book something in the Plattsburgh area because there seem to be a lot of options. What have you found Mark?

Pam - I tried looking up the hotel at Hotels.com and it reflects its sold out.
I sent out about a dozen inquiries for renting a house and taking my family up for there for our annual week vacation in the woods/lake.
If we book a house some of you are more than welcome to crash there. We will atleast have bathrooms/showers to use for all those who brave sleeping in their cars! LOL!

Looking at the map—Plattsburgh seems like a haul and further north making for an overall longer trip to get there.

I wonder if something over the line in Vermont and little more south or a little more south in upstate NY makes more sense……?

There are a couple of Holiday Inns in Burlington and South Burlington Vermont with rooms available — just a few more miles from Lake Placid than Plattsburgh, but more south and closer to CT.

How does one get from Burlington to LP? There is a lake in between and I don't see a bridge on the map. Perhaps we could swim across?
