Long ride (100), short run (4.5) last Sat, skipped my long run on Sunday.  I felt like a slacker, but it was an awesome rest day !

Ran home from work last night (7.25) and felt great !

I am traveling this weekend, and have to find a way to squeeze in some workouts (hotel gym probably).  I'm planning one last "big" weekend on the 10/20-10/21, then a 2 week taper for me.

My biking seems great, but I need to focus on swim/run for the next 2 weeks.

At this point, I'm just trying to stay healthy.  Every little ache/pain worries the crap these days.....

This is getting so close and there is not much time left to do any work towards it, This is my last big week and then dwindling time til race day.

Did 120 bike followed by a 5k yesterday.  That was a long time to be on the bike.

Just a thought,

With Daylight Savings time not changing til after the race this year, how much of an impact will sunrise have on the swim?  If I have if figured near correct, sunrise would be about 4 minutes after our 7:00 start.

Also, then to finish at Sunset, you need to go sub 11:00 and finish at 5:55 (or 1755 for you military types)

I think that could make for some cool Photo Ops if you can get the right angle.

Sure it's a wave start- there's only 1 wave for 2,000 athletes

Edited:  I take that back- there's 2 waves.  The first is the pro wave, and then there's everybody else.

Speaking of waves......My first IM was IMFL in 2002. You should have seen the Gulf that morning. There were 6 foot waves..... and nice rolling swells throughout the swim. That sucked. Hopefully it will be flat as a pancake this year as in the past several years....

The Naval Observatory says sunrise in Panama City on Nov 3 will be at 6:58am and sunset at 5:45.  I'd expect they might hold the start a little until there is enough light to safely monitor the swim.  7:30 is a more likely start time this year.  Or we could just move the race to Sunday after the clocks change

do you really think they will start the swim at0730? all publication indicates 0700.. that just means more math for me every time I'll look at my watch. (i tend to forget to start my watch in races...)

If it's dark I can't imagine they would be stupid enough to send 2000 people off into the deep blue sea.  That's begging for a lawsuit.  I figure they probably overlooked the new daylight savings law during planning.  The Energy Policy Act of 2005 changed both the starting and ending dates.  Beginning in 2007, daylight time starts on the second Sunday in March and ends on the first Sunday in November.

I guess if the AG start in the darkish morning, the pros would start in the dark. It will be interesting if they start it at 7:30, does that means we get an extra 1/2 hour of sleep, Body marking at 5:30? But would they still have a cut off of midnight? I would assume that their permits are till midnight.

one thing I am thinking is that is is actually light before sunrise (like some state laws require headlights on cars between 1/2 after sunset until 1/2 hour before sunrise)  So there will probably be enough light to get started, just really bright at the turn and looking left.

I do not see how/why they would start at anything other than 7 am.  The race goes 17 hours for the cut-off, and that means midnight.  The only time I've heard of anything otherwise was IMKY where they had the individual TT starts which was a unique situation.

Did a 70 miler last weekend on the bike, and a short run on Sunday.  Then I'm doing the Baltimore marathon tomorrow which will be my last big workout.

I'm as ready as I'm going to get I guess.  The aqua velo went well I think and gave me a good sense of what I need to do to come off the bike able to run a marathon.  I even got an AG plaque for age group winner in the mail for the race yesterday which came as a surprise since I didn't think they were giving out awards at the race for the aqua velo.

Hello,

Are you planning any adjustments to the start/finish times for Florida? Since Daylight savings time has been moved this year based on the new law it seems like it might be dark for the start of the swim. I believe sunrise is showing at 6:58a and sunset at 5:45. Just curious.

Thanks,
Brian Leach

If I had taken it at a slower pace it would have been one thing, but I ran a BQ ....... oops!!

Hopefully I'll be back to 100% by Nov. 3rd.  If not, oh well!
