Pre-race routine:

I really was more focused on making sure that Luke was ok, but I did get to enjoy the start of the Half and Full Marathon before my 5K.

I had my race morning cliff bar and water.
Event warmup:

No warm up.

  • 27m 50s
  • 3.12 miles

Comments:

It was a nice run for me!(Surprise since I have not been training. Maybe that is the trick) It was the first time in a long time that I ran a 5K with out a swim and ride infront, so it seemed pretty short. I ran 9 min walked 30 seconds. I didn't like to walk because of all the people who would pass me, but I am glad that I did b/c I was able to maintain a faster pace. It was fun.
What would you do differently?:

I might train a little better.
Post race
Warm down:

Not much warm down, just changed into dry clothes to go out and watch the Half Marathon runners and Marathon runners finish! I went to see how Luke was doing and to watch him!

Performance: Good
Course: The course took us out of downtown by Minute Maid and then out to the east. The course was on City streets, there were a few potholes and uneven pavement, but nothing that was too bad. The roads were wet from the rain that we had earlier. It was a pretty flat course except for an underpass that we had to go down and back up twice. It was at mile 1 and just after mile 2.

Great race! Funny how that doesn't seem like a big deal anymore.
