Subject: trying to tri
well, i suppose i should get in on this whole intro thing. i'm so happy i found this site, with all it's great info, inspiration, and also a great spot to log all my training. i've been a swimmer since birth, and have had the urge to try a tri lurking in the back of my mind since i first became aware of them in high school. I finally got my first road bike 2 months ago and have left the excuses for not getting started in my dust. My first race is going to be a sprint (the Tinfoilman) here in Tucson Arizona that they do on the University campus. It should be lots of fun! i'm so excited to finally have started working toward this goal. I've done a bunch of aquathlons (swim/run), and am just trying to get the miles in the saddle. I need to up those miles consistently so I can go plOpen water is the next fear to conquer. Sept. 12th is the La Jolla, CA Rough Water swim and i'm determined to go swim the mile and not think about sharks the whole time. I just joined Team in Training for the Phoenix Rock N Roll Marathon, and that is really motivating me to strive toward my goals. They are really an excellent program, and anyone thinking of doing a marathon/road ride/triathlon should check out their web site and look into a program in your locale because you have the added incentive of not just racing for your pride/health/sanity, but also working for a cause and purpose larger than youself. Good luck to all the newbies on this quest!
