Well, Set up Events is taking a shot at it:  September 8th

Just minutes from I-64 in Williamsburg, VA the latest addition to the 2007 Virginia Triathlon Series is rapidly becoming a must do event. After a 1.2 mile swim in the James River athletes will race through 56 miles of woods, farmlands, and lakes on mostly flat terrain and good pavement. Once you have laced up your running shoes you'll be treated to a flat and fast one loop 13.1 mile run through some of Williamsburgs most scenic venues.

Be sure to take get in a day early to get your race packet and experience the Patriots Expo, training and nutrition clinics, and get your fill of pre-race food.

Also, be sure to tell all the ladies in your life about the Lady Patriot all women's event on Sunday (500 meter swim-10 mile bike-2 mile run). "

Too bad they aren't doing the Oly also.  Still, it's nice that someone's trying it again.

So this is different than the group last year that tried to get one going and then opted out when they couldn't get the level of event they wanted?

A September half puts me in good training range for IMFL, so it might be an option.

Yes, this is a different group.  The new one is Setup Events.  The one from last year was Endorfun.

We were the ones who walked away. Yup, different group. Honestly, I want to make sure we have NOTHING to do with the event that's going to take place

Very interesting news. I really wanted to do this race; but the fact that Keith and his group walked away due to unresolved issues makes me wonder.... I know there was concern about the bike course due to the fact the Williamsburg is on a peninsula and there are limited choices for roads, that being said; I'd really like to do a race there.....

Just curious, why would you say that?  I've not heard anything bad about Setup, except for their registration server issues.

There are reasons we decided not to do it, and want to make sure we're not associated with it. I know Set Up has a good reputation, and wish them the best of luck with it.

Oh MAN I got all excited and thought somehow EndorFun was able to pull it off, with the quality they wanted out of it.

I was disappointed to see Keith's harsh words about the Williamsburg HIM. I am sorry that the event to did not work out for Endorfun, but I am glad to see Set up taking it on. I have competed in several Set Up events and was not disappointed in the least. Also, in regard to the Bike course, I am sure it won't disappoint. Don't be fooled by the penisula description, there is plenty of great rural riding in the area. I believe this will be a great race and a great venue. Thanks Set up!

I'm hoping this is going to be a good race. I agree, there is some great riding on the backroads in Williamsburg and surrounding area. This will be my fall HIM.

Don't mistake my comments for criticism. I'm not being critical at all. As I said, I wish them the best of luck. Sometimes, things get interpreted differently than they are meant.

I just want to make sure we're not associated with it, as we decided not to do it. But, that's true of any event out there. That's also not a criticism....

I'm excited about the prospect of racing in this venue and registered for the previous planned races in Williamsburg.  Like Sue, I was looking for a Fall HIM, and it'll be my second "A" race of the season.  I have good friends that live in Yorktown, so it's a great excuse to hang out with them before/after the race.  It'll be fun.

Cool, I'll have to look into this one. I rode the Surrey Ferry on Saturday and it reminded me of the Choptank River at Eagleman. I hope it's not windy.

Yup - which is why I try to do my long rides in Williamsburg.  Especially due to the fact that the Peninsula offers hills - something foreign to our neck of the woods.  Assuming this race is still open after my IM, this might just be the ticket to reintroduce me to the sport -  unless I decide to throw my bike away after IM CdA.
