Ok...I've read lots of posts about chafing for those blessed with more padding than me but what is the deal with an A having rub marks where the sports bra band hits my chest just below my arm pit areas? I wear Shape by Champion and also just ordered a couple new ones figuring maybe that was the issue with older bras.

I can take it if it the bra or just goes with the territory of more training but is it me? Am I doing something weird maybe with how I pump my arms running? Anyone else in same boat?

Body Glide.  Sounds like a seam or something that might be rubbing.

I have one bra in particular that rubs on the band in the front.  One pair of my tri shorts chafes along the inside of my left thigh. Another pair chafes a little tiny spot on my, um... butt (where the chamois meets the shorts).

I've pretty much put the Body Glide on permanent Gym Bag duty, and have to remember which of what I'm wearing rubs where, and slather it on.

Definently get Body Glide. That stuff works wonders. You might want to try different bras, as each has a different fit/shape and will have seams in different spots. And some companies do a better job of making seams that don't chafe. But in the mean time, definently get Body Glide.

I have the same issue on all longer runs, which happens from my shirt more than the bra...
Body Glide is definitely the way to go.

Thanks ! Yeah, bummer, I was checking out my bras and sure enough, there are seems that conjoin on each side along the band which must be the culprit! Sad thing is that I love these Champion Shape bras... but I'll give the body glide a whirl.

I don't think our boob size determines chafing

If you body moves under the bra, you're going to get chafing.

Look at where the bra is hitting you under the arm... maybe try a different one that doesn't fit so close there.

I wear the Champions friction free bra, and love them... but I will always get chafing under the boobs if I don't wear body glide, and sometimes even with body glide I will get it, if my race and sweating is long enough.

I even pack a small chunk of body glide in a baggie and tuck it in my shorts when I race longer races... and I even clipped that tiny Body Glide bar to my shorts on the NYC marathon!!

what specific Champion bra are you wearing? Have you tried the seemless friction free ones, they don't hit me under the arm. Here's the one I have... I have about 5 of these, and they've last for years already!!

I have also heard at a sports bra seminar that some women wear their sports bras inside out. I don't know where the seams are and if that would help you ...

I had a similar type problem this past weekend at the 1/2 mary. Never had this problem on shorter runs. My underwire bra actually cut me. Have no idea why.

On the other hand, I have had chafing before but usually was from my shirt. Usually if my shirt sleeve is very short, I will chafe. Just my .02.

I often have a problem with sports bra's due to having a wide (36inc) rib cage but small sporty boobs that are generally made for peeps with 32 inch rib cages. I just take scissors and cut the elastic. Yeah, it's ghetto, but it works...

I started wearing the C9 seamless sports bras from Target.  They are great and I get a lot less chafing.  I still use body glide for longer runs and workouts (more than an hour), but not usually during shorter ones and I don't have a problem.

I found chafing to be most difficult in the winter, when my skin is more dry. I definitely agree that Body Glide works wonders, but also trying to stay generally moisturized may help. That and some bras just rub differently than others.

Good luck!

Even my most comfortable and best fitting bras will chafe me on longer runs. Body Glide is your best bet!

hahaha, that is CLASSIC! Someone use this for a sig line!
Back to the issue at hand, our sporty boobs, I found that the less expensive the bra, the more chafing I get. Sucks, but it is worth the money to shell out for better quality stuff. I tried Champion years ago (I know the stuff is much better now) and had problems, switched to $%## expensive Adidas, and have no problems.

Cool idea about turning them inside out. I get chaffage where my sports bra hits the top of my chest - mostly after long runs - and it happens with pretty much all my sports bras. Maybe it is time to spring for a more expensive one... I still have scars from my marathon.

I second these ones...I have 2 and they are awesome. My older (different brand) ones have stretched out and become useless over time and washing, but these ones are wicked good. I'd highly recommend them.

Where can you find this mythical body glide? (my shorts have been chafing as of late) I'm in Canada, does that matter? Thanks and good luck!!

Doesn't matter how they look, as long as they still work. When they stop supporting, ditch 'em.

Umm... the bodyglide was unused, right?

I still have scars from last marathon too.  Do they eventually go away?  I try to remember to put on the glide...but I definitely remember real quick when I forget. Ouch!

PiggFinn, good idea about carry a little baggy of the bodyglide. I may need to try that come April.
