Subject: Bike Tire Question
In July I am doing Boulder Peak Triathlon and have a question concerning my bike. It is a Trek Mountain Bike, and has been used for both road and mountain biking in the past. Going forward, I realize that I need a Road Bike but right now the cash is not there.

I want to switch to a road tire (or more, have interchangeable tires) for both the training and the tri. If people have any advice about this I would be grateful. Also, I am looking for a quality bike shop in the Denver/Boulder area.

Thanks

No brand preference, but for speed you want some slick road tires for sure.  Get 26x1.5 or skinnier and make sure they support at least 80psi.   I wouldn't worry too much about brand or model, just whatever you can find a good deal on.

I've use Avocet 1.5" slicks on my MTB, and a couple others with slight siping grooves. But the one that rolled best was a Continental... Town and Country? I think that's it. Similar to the Canyon (inverted tread), but with a continuous center bead tread. I'll see if I can find a link.

Get whatever slick is on sale. I think I paid 9.97 at performance. Pump'em up, they will roll easier.
