Expert 957 | Subject: RE: RANT - Treadmill close call - only in NY...or a gym near you At my gym, you're technically not supposed to have anything but water- no food (except in the lobby) and no drinks but water (though it's very easy to get away with gatorade or the like if it's not in a clear bottle. And our machines do have a 30 minute if people are waiting (which sucks if you're trying to do a long workout but great to encourage the walkers to get off the machines). But yes, even in a gym with no rules, she deserved what she got. And since you live in Brooklyn of all places, she should be prepared to take the comments from others as isn't that the expectation in the boro, that you'll hear about it if you suck, do something to both other people, etc.? |

It's not a problem to get a machine, and as far as I know, no one has said anything to him. I'm really more disturbed by his attire - to workout in?he wears print boxers and button oxford shirts. |

Coffee hasn't tasted the same since they left...sigh.. Anyways, there's been several threads about rude gym users. I belong to a gym where there are a lot of elderly members that like to walk very slowly on the t-mill, but I figure I will be in their shoes one day. I just let it go and run outside whenever possible. They also drive slow, but that's another rant. |

Where? When? The franchise that owned them here in AZ (and I think New Mexico as well) went out of business. It was a sad day! Happened in August. The closest one is now 250 miles away in Vegas So, all you BTers who live near a Krispy Kreme, enjoy them! |

Where? When? Bummer, one of the Vegas one's is less than a mile from my house. I used to stop there on my way home from the Bellagio and have the fresh free one and the one I purchased with a carton of choco milk....... |

Yes. I keep meaning to wait around and see what he wears when he leaves. |

Irregardless of her behavior and rather or not anyone from this group was there to see what was actually happening, I would be curious to know if you treated her just like you would have liked someone to treat you had the situation been reversed. You know, no matter how perfect we each think we might be, we all have those moments where our head is inserted firmly up our tail pipe. Did you respond to this lady in the way you would want someone to respond to you during one of your own tail pipe moments? Just a thought |

Did you respond to this lady in the way you would want someone to respond to you during one of your own tail pipe moments? Just a thought If I constantly: - Abuse space (hog it up), sometimes forcing others to either move or have them wait for one of the two spaces I am using - Bump people as I make my way with bags of who knows what - Drop crumbs of food for others to clean for me - Occasionally drop things like water bottles and newspapers and whatever else on others without even aknowleding it (never mind apologize) Add on top of that, NOT GIVING A CHIT AND SHOWING IT! YES! I am to expect some one to come up with something, at some point that will make me remember that my head is seemingly always up my tail pipe, especially when I almos trip someone on a treadmill, not just the occassional moment as you are imagining. Read my second post on this thread. I'm done with this thread. |

Champion 6993 Chicago, Illinois | Subject: RE: RANT - Treadmill close call - only in NY...or a gym near you I can see your point about the lady. We all have our bad moments where we go off on people. Its sad when we do it but it happens from time to time. Hopely it does not happen too often. Atleast the lady was moving on the treadmill. I had a lady who used one of the machines (only one in service that does what it does) as chair while she talked on the phone for 10 mins then preceeded to do about 4 reps and then leave the machine. It forced me to lift more than I was planning on doing so maybe I should thank her but still when people are lining up behind you and you are sitting there that is an issue. I think alot of why people get upset with certain people at the gym is we do not see effort. No effort to work out and no effort to be considerate of other people. Some people who go through there work out put no effort into anything and then wonder why they are not getting results. Drinking coffee and reading the paper is a prime example off not looking like they are trying. |
