I am soooo sorry we were kept standing in line so long this morning and we didn't get a chance to meet up. Other than that little glitch I thought it was a great day. Looking forward to reading everyone's race reports.

Hey Ladies, I hope you all had as much fun as I did yesterday - I am sorry that I never made it to our meeting point at 6AM because I was all focused on getting to the port-a-pots, getting an ankle strap that fit me, and getting marked.  I did find the PWTM's and was so excited to meet you all!  And, I was racked right next to Nora and saw Mary and one of the other PWTM team members (I am sorry, I am so bad with names - but you were a first-timer too !!)  after the race.

BT rocks!!

Does anyone know officially how long the distance was on the swim? apparently they announced that it would be about 600, but then made another announcement that since the water was calm, they would move the bouy out. I was too nervous and excited and cold freezing to process this information yesterday.

2007 Danskin Women’s Triathlon Series

Gateway National Recreation Area
Sandy Hook Unit (New Jersey)

Swim Course

Please be advised that the Swim Course measurement for the 2007 Danskin Women’s Triathlon Series event this past Sunday at Gateway National Recreation Area/Sandy Hook Unit (New Jersey) was 500 meters.  For those of you who participated last year as well, this is a 100 meter reduction from the 2006 Course.

The decision regarding the final Swim Course length is the domain of the Swim Co-Ordinator.  This decision is made on Race Morning and is guided by the overall water conditions – specifically the current, which of course directly impacts safety.

Boo-I was rather liking the thought that I could swim 800 meter in 12 mins and change.  Oh well - there's always next year!!!

so was i, brenda!

but its better to know the truth - and for me, the swim time was a huge improvement regardless of the distance.

oh well, I guess I need to be honest and change the swim distance on my blog.  It's my first, so I can only go up from there!!  (it was a tough swim - actually the WORST part was waiting to start in the freezer-like weather).

Mosc ladies, how did Mama Mosc do?  I am still SO impressed that your mom is a triathlete.

And, I second those who said they're doing this race next year.  I'll see ya there!!

i think her time was 2:25 - she was the second the last finisher... bib #1299

considering that the last real "event" she did was a 5K about 15 years ago - this WAS a huge undertaking for her... wish she blogged here - because it would be great for her to see all the "props" she's getting through us

i posted pics in my album and i can share more online if you PM me your email address

I like your reflective walking pic after the race.  I think your pics look great.  I only have one that I don't like in mine.  I actually look like I am having fun, which is rare in race photos.  Usually I look miserable and can't believe that I paid money to look like that.  I have to convince people that I was actually having a good time.  Have a great weekend ladies.

Mary - are you doing the Central Park Biathlon?

that "reflective walking pic" as you called it, was DURING the race - then I saw the photog and realized he'd just captured me doggin' it, so i gave a thumbs up and he shot another... its all about the photos!

Everyone's pics look great! I'm #1205 and the rest of my group were 1206, 371, and 172. My aunt (#371) says she's in tri-withdrawal now the the race is over. I keep telling her -- only about 360 days left till next year!!

On a different note -- I'm planning on doing the 5 Borough Bike Tour in NYC next May (check out http://www.bikenewyork.org/rides/fbbt/index.html)... it's not a race, it's just a fun ride (i.e., people actually stop and take pictures along the way) -- but it sounds like a great time! Registration will open in Jan/Feb -- but you can sign up to get emailed when it opens. I plan on getting some friends to do it with me -- the more the merrier! Anyone in??
