I just wasted an hour of my life on the stupid show "Deal or no Deal".    Some broke lady gets offered 140,000 bucks and turns it down so that she can end up with $500.   I just wanted to ask, "What is wrong with people?"

I know what you mean but I love that show. It's the ultimate in greed. If someone walked up to you in the street and said heres $1000 would you say "No deal, what in your other pocket?" It doesn't make any F%$N sense. Greedy, stupid people deserve to go home with $500. The show here is only half and hour which is more than long enough.

It takes them a fricken hour to open 25 cases.  I can only watch that show once every three weeks without going stir crazy.

Ditto that... I just need a recap... that includes 1) Highest amount offered & 2) What they went home with...

It's tough to say because I've never been in the situation, but unless I had 3-4 big numbers still on the board, I'm walking with the first 6 figure offer I get.  One of my favorites was some idiot getting a 200K+ offer with a 66% chance of there being LESS than 10K in the case... holy cow do you take that and run.  He, of course, went home with not even enough to make a car payment..

OMG, I'm with you, I hate that show, granted I have only watched it once for about 15 minutes it was all I needed. Is it just me, or do the people sound totally scripted or prompted, I don't know just seemed weird.

I, too, am not really a fan of the show, but I've watched it on occasion.

Here are my rules for going on any show like that:

1.  If you keep in mind that no matter what you walk away with, its more than what you walked in with, you'll have fun.  And you have a great story to tell for the rest of your life.  I hate when they make people go through the rest of the process once they've taken a deal to show them what would have happened.  Well, it didn't happen, so you're taking up valuable air time.  Move on to the next player.

2.  When the odds pay right, take it.  I hate when someone's staring a 4 to 1 shot at $500k in the face and passes on anything over $100,001.  But, I'm a math geek and poker guy, so its kind of how I always think.

and here I was thinking that I was the only one using logic while watching the show

This is the whole appeal of the show.  Do you think people would watch if they didn't get the pleasure of feeling smarter than the mathematically challenged dim-wits who are on the show?

Same thing I said (I spelled it w/ an "s" by mistake)

And for the record, it and greed are the about the same thing (Avarice just sounds cooler, and I think it may indicated a higher degree of said greed)
