Congratulations on your anniversary!!!  That's awesome!

I'm waiting to hear my mom reach the same point.  The first couple of years are a mixture of happiness (another year without cancer) and apprehension (the visit to confirm you're still cancer-free).  Right now, it doesn't seem like it will get easier.

Congratulations fellow survivor (I had testicular cancer in '91 - same side). Treat yourself to something nice.

Congratulations. I really second self checking and annual checks for anything you can. My dad had prostate cancer and had to have his prostate removed. I hated seeing everything he had to go through with that. Last physical I had they reccomended a prostate check. Normally I would have emphatically declined. Just had to think about dad for a second and that made the ,um, process much more doable.

Thanks Spokes. I've got a couple of family members battling cancers now. So good to hear success stories. American Cancer Society is now my charity of choice.

Congrats Spokes! My dad had non-hodgkins lymphoma when he was in his 30's. Was in remission after radiation and chemo for 18 years, and it returned when he was 54. He lost the battle after three years, but I am so thankful that I got to grow up with him. The science of treating cancer has come so far. You are right, we all need to be aware of our bodies and take notice of changes. My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer in November. Stage one, grade two. She had a successful lumpectomy and is two weeks into radiation now. Now that both of my parents have had it, I'm a bit scared that I will battle it at some point in my life.

I check myself regularly, and my doc does it once a year too. Thanks for sharing your experience, and congrats on your continued good health!

McFuzz' cousin was diagnosed with testicular cancer 2 years ago and underwent all the treatment needed AND did not have insurance at the time.  He is doing fine now.  My dad was just diagnosed with cancer of the mouth and starting 7 weeks of radiation therapy 5 days a week.  According to my mom it has nothing to do with the fact that he has smoked since he was 14!!!  Like Itell everyone else, "Whatever helps her to sleep at night!"
