Pre-race routine:

Packed my bags the night before, so I all had to do on race morning was get up, shower, brush my teeth find something for breakfast and head out. Which is what I did. I stopped for gas and picked up a Snickers Marathon bar (they are really good, if you haven't tried them, you should) and a powerade. Drove the 80 miles to the race site
Event warmup:

I went for a 5 minute jog in St. Paul and stretched for about 10 minutes

Comments:

The run started out great, I hit the turn around at 50:19 and felt really good. The wind was really ferocious out of the North, dropping the windchill to -10 to -20...I had ice chunks on my hat from frozen sweat! At about mile 10 I still felt good, but I was starting to get REALLY hungry, and I knew that was a bad sign, I was hoping that I would be able to make it through the last 3.1 miles and then grab something to eat...BOY WAS I WRONG. My pace dropped off a little bit for miles 10 & 11, and I hit the wall BIG TIME as I crossed the mile 12 marker. I started to feel shaky and really warm so I knew that unless I did something quick, it was not going to have a good ending. I finally started walking about 1/2 way into mile 13 which helped me to not Bonk. With about 3 blocks left to go there is a huge hill that you have to climb and one of the spectators asked if I was fealling okay, I said no and asked if he had a gel, which he did. I ate the cliff blocks and felt energy almost immediately. About 1/2 way into mile 13 I wanted so desperately to quit, it really sucked, I was cold, staggering and wanted to fall over. I have always heard about races that suck all of the mental ability out of you, and this was one of them. It truly took every ounce I had.
What would you do differently?:

Bring gels with me!!
Post race
Warm down:

Scavenged to find anything and everything that I could to devour at the end of the race

What limited your ability to perform faster:

lack of calories in me

Those final hills were tough, but you did a great job getting through the race. Next time you're running a half in the freezing cold, it'll seem like a piece of cake. Nice work!

The cold, wind and hills can really take it out of you.  Body has to work a little harder to keep you warm and the wind and hills are natures added resistance.

Sorry to hear about the race finish.  I'm glad you're o.k., though.  Way to hang in there...

Way to gut it out and finish. I only did the 5k and the finish was tough after just doing that. Sorry you had troubles. Good run nonetheless.

Great job persevering through that last mile.  Even walking that last mile you still have a great time!  Nice job.
