Subject: Triathlon stores in the metroplex?
Does anyone have good suggestions on a triathlon retailer around DFW? Specifically, I am looking for a wetsuit, but I would like to find places that have other tri gear too. I have bought some stuff from online retailers, but I am hesitant to buy a wetsuit without trying it on. Thanks.

Richardson Bike Mart probably has the best selection of tri stuff, with the exception of wetsuits.  I did a lot of looking on-line and almost any of the big companies - Zoot, Orca, ProMotion have a pretty good return policy.  I am buying a Promotion Fluid Drive.  I was confused about the sizing and called them directly.  They asked me a lot of questions and told me the size to order.  But, if it does not fit right, I can return it.

Derek and I bought our Ironman (now BlueSeventy) wetsuits online, his with trisports.com and me with all3sports.com.  Love the wetsuits, so we didn't have to return them, but most websites are very forgiving.

I was in Plano Cycling and Fitness last week and I think I saw that they had some Orca wetsuits on sale. I think there were just a few so it will probably depend on the size you are looking for. Their phone number is (972) 423-4130

It's not so much that I don't trust buying a wetsuit online, it's just that I have no idea what kind to buy. There are several wetsuit brands with different price ranges. With buying online, it's not practical to buy a few and keep the one that is most comfortable. I pretty much have to guess which one I will like the most and hope that I'm right.

You're probably right, though. I'll just have to find one online with a good retailer. Thanks for the suggestions

Most local stores that have wetsuits only have one brand and then only a few sizes.  Your best bet is to research online and then order a couple of sizes.  Try them in the pool and send back the one you don't want.

I bought my Xterra from trisports.com.  They helped me with the sizing and then sent two sizes for me to try in the pool.  I sent back the one that I didn't want.

I'm planning on buying a ProMotion wetsuit shortly.  If you call them on the phone, I hear they have great support.  You get a BT discount and they can ask you lots of sizing questions so that the one you get really fits.

Just found a brand new store in Ft. Worth. Performance Bicycle opened a store on Hulen just south of the Hulen mall. I went in there today, and they have some pretty good sales on bike clothing right now. Unfortunately, they do not have any wetsuits. I've bought from them before at there website, performancebike.com, so I was psyched about the store opening here.

REI Dallas (between Welch and Midway on Westbound LBJ) is starting to beef up their Triathlon selections.  Don't know about wetsuits though, but we do now have jammers, shorts, jerseys, and goggles and caps.  Wetsuits should be following I would think.  However with the water temperature in Texas it might not happen for this store.
