I did this one last year (was my first). My freind and I are both doing it this year. I should be a lot better on the bike this time. Swim and run were good, but oooooh, the bike was tragic.

I just began triathlons last summer...finsihed two sprints. I convinced my sister to compete in SFD along with me this year, as well as a couple of my athletes ( I am a swim coach). I thought about going and riding the bike course some time or running just so I am familiar with the course. I don't like "suprises" on a course. Good luck to everyone.

I rode the bike course last year ahead of time and then on race day, the route changed because of traffic headed into a nearby church.

I had the same thought about riding the course a day or two before. But the day before is the race for the cure. I have drug my feet a bit on entering the race for the cure thinking of conserving energy for the Tri. Seeing as this will be my first one, I want to make sure I don't fail miserably. And skipping the RfC may help with that. What do y'all think?

The race for cure is only a 5k, if the splash and dash is more important, do the race for cure run the first 1 mile or 2 hard, then ease up, 1 mile hard will help you the next day with your precieved effort. I will be doing the Race for Cure, I haven't decided on the splash yet it's kind of a high price for a sprint.

Good Luck

Is there a temperature cut off. With the way the weather has been I wouldn't be suprised if it was 80 degrees in two weeks. The swim is indoors, but is there a temp cut off for the bike and run or should I plan to bring all of my clothes and choose the morning of the race??

Any BTers (other than Moose and Myself) going to the tuneup? Interested in getting Starbucks afterwards?

Pre-race Tune-up April 15th
Sunday, April 15th there will be a pre-race “tune-up” at Carmel High School from 3 – 5 p.m. This event is free to everyone registered for the triathlon, and includes:

*Access to the pool, where you can swim the course as it will be laid out on race day
*Swim/transition tips from experienced triathletes and Carmel Swim Club personnel
*Free bike safety check from race sponsor A1 Cyclery

This is a great opportunity to check out the swim course, and get a quick check of your bike before race day. You don’t need to sign up for this event, as long as you are registered for the race. You will be able to sign up for the race at this event, as long as it is not sold out before that time. For further questions about this event, contact [email protected].

My sister and I will both be there for the tune-up. I have to get my bike checked, new tube will not fit properly. The Carmel pool is great.

Im going to try and make it for the tune up. as a first-timer, I thinkit would be great to see the pool and the area just to get familiar. And I'm always up for starbucks! I hope to meet you all there!

Great race, congrats to all the first timers that where there (there was a bunch!).

Race pictures are up online... (though they did not post anything for me aside from a few shots from when I'm heading down the hill from T1). I know they took my finishing picture, but they did not post anything.
