I've been training for a little over a month. at first my body was changing... feeling slimmer, stronger, etc. but now I seem to have reached a plateau. I still would like to lose some more inches while training, but I'm not sure how to alter or add to my training plan to continue to lose?

any suggestions?

Intervals, intervals, intervals.  Mix up your daily routine!

i agree...something needs shuffled.  try a new route...many times some rest will recup yourself enough to climb the plateau...being new i assume, many times we go to hard starting up as we r cought up in the 'newness' and excitement and forget about proper rest.

change your routine...maybe do a bunch a short bike/run bricks for a week (careful, u mention u just started).

it kinda parallels lifting...doing supersets, compound sets, heavy days, switching exercises - anything to mix it up...u keep doing all the same and your body just gets complacent...only natural...u will have many plateaus in your career.

trial and error...u will soon find what works for u.

It may not be your level of training - you may need to change your eating habits also. I have found that portion control is a huge issue, especially when I work out. Also, I have shifted to 3 meals with two healthy snacks. The snacks help keep your stomach working all day (burning calories in the process) and makes it easier to eat a reasonable lunch/dinner.

Good luck,

Dennis

Shock your system so to speak:

I remember when I hit my first plateau I was basically just running and biking. My body became comfortable with that so I threw in swimming and a little boxing.
If your training for a race I know you have specific goals you want to meet. You can still work in larger hills on your runs or maybe some really good sprints. Just do something you aren't very comfortable with (that's not dangerous of course, don't go running in the middle of the freeway) and you body will respond.
