I'm in for the short. Was planning to bump up the distance this year but decided to save that for another race and use UBC (same distance and same course) as a direct comparison of where I am and where I started at! It's a great race! You'll have so much fun! Is it your first?

Despite that I rarely post anymore (my journal is empty! ) I still exist! And I'm doing running UBC...98% likelihood it'll be the sprint. I originally had plans for the Oly but really let the swim training slip through the fall.

Despite that I can barely swim 750m (although I can, which is way ahead of last year) and that my rear end was extremely sore after doing a 16km bike ride yesterday (first time on the bike since August or September), I think it'll be a good time. It's going to be a tough weekend though as my big grad dinner is on the Friday night and a really good friend's big 30th birthday bash is on the Saturday night. It's all good, I'll survive! At least I hope I will. Good thing my heat for the sprint doesn't take off until sometime after 12. Sleeping in on Tri days is good!

Good times, good times.

I was thinking of doing the Sprint for the UBC, either that or volunteer to hand out water or give out free massages at the end of the race! so I can watch to see how it is done.

I'm in for the Oly, it will be my first one at this distance, but I have to admit i've done a half and full Ironman before so I should be alright. Bike training has been suspiciously lacking though!!! See you all there.

I realized today that I'm doing this race pretty much off of pure base fitness rather than having actually trained for any of it (except the swim). I think I've ran once in the past two weeks and I've done 20 minutes on the trainer on my bike.

This is going to be a sad sight.

I just have to say that I'm SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO excited for this Sunday. I know I'm still doing a mini-tri distance, but I can't wait to compare times from this year against last year on the same course. I can't WAIT!! Its distracting me from homework! All I want to do is race!! Come on Sunday....get here a little faster!!!!!

Anyone else nearly as stoked as I am? Or has been for a different race? Man oh man...I'm almost GIDDY!!

Thanks Dan!

Personally, I'm not feeling that pumped. I'm a bit fairweather and the weather is anything but fair going into the weekend. I've barely had a chance to ride my new bike, my swimming is sketchy when considering I have to go 800m, and I gave myself whiplash on Sunday night by doing a severe faceplant/belly flop on my board up at Cypress. My shoulders and neck are killing me.

So yeah, I'm not feeling it right now. I think if it weren't for the whiplash, I'd be more excited...I'm not too worried about the new bike or even the swim, but the pain...ow.

Yeah, it's going to be a good time. I'm a little concerned about being able to stay warm AND comfortable. My hands and feet tend to get cold pretty easily and my bike shoes are basically mesh on top. I have neoprene bike gloves, but they aren't very warm. I need heated handlebars like on a motorbike

I'm going to DIE on the Run.

My run isn't going to be pretty either. But I'm hoping I can mentally push through it. At least mine's only 5k! Good luck everyone

Why not? I've decided not to do it either (was thinking about the du), because of weather/training reasons....I definately wouldn't be happy with myself if I finished it bad.

GOOD LUCK to everyone that's doing it though!!!!

Hey Kiwigal, there is a TRI in Ladner on the 21st of April.

http://www.corp.delta.bc.ca/EN/main/visitors/triathlon.html

It is supposed to be pretty good I've been told. Mind you, I have been lied to before!

Hey Doc, what do you expect your time to be?

If I have an idea, I'll make a point of being at the finish line if it's not too close to my start time.
