First mile was the warmup. Once my HR got going, it was smooth sailing.

No splits for the transitions, but by my watch I was about 1:30.

Comments:

I'm guessing that my August schedule took something away from my bike. My 10-day vacation left me with only two rides for the month of August before this race, so I think I dropped some strength.
What would you do differently?:

Skip vacation? No chance in hell!!

Comments:

Started to lose a little steam in mile 4, and continue to feel a shoulder cramp only during heavy exertion during races.
Post race
Warm down:

Water, banana, grapes

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The bike

Event comments:

This is a great race in a great setting.

Wind: Little
Course: Yikes! Came out of the chute like a banshee and took the first turn too fast and too wide - scooted off into a wet, grassy drainage swail, skidding a bit as I braked, but then got her turned onto the blacktop with minimal time loss. Three HUGE hills, which really killed the averages. Still, disappointed with the bike. I am 1 or 2 in my age group in the run, but I was 3.5 minutes slower than the first place guy in the bike. Don't know what he's riding or if he has hot wheels or what, but the bike will be my focus this winter. Interestingly, I ranked 40th in the run and 29th overall in the bike, so I passed a lot of faster runners/slower riders, but my bike pace still is not where it needs to be if I want to take a first.
