I'm tring to use the core muscle plan on here from D3 and I seem to always end up with lower back pain. Any idea's how to control this. I've been to a chiropracter before for back pain and it seems my lower vertibrate is fused to my sacrum. I really need some exercises to work the lower abs and the core. Any help or idea's?

Thanx

I have the same sacralization issue, but I found what I can do through experimentation. If I had it to do over again, I would go to a physical therapy or sports med clinic and have them work out a program for me. You may have to shop around a little. Look for a group that sponsors races or lists under sports medicine. They may be a little more in-tune with what you are trying to do than an occupational medicine/rehab group.

What exercises specifically are giving you pain?

My suggestion: buy the book Pain Free by Pete Egoscue. It's possible that you have a core imbalance and need to correct that to move past the pain. Certainly not always the answer, but I personally have had great results and know of many others who have as well. You can get it off Amazon (or probably any other book store).

Anything where I raise my legs up. If I raise my lower body and upper body towards each other to pass a swiss ball V I can feel a poping in my lower back evrytime I raise up V
Crunches also seem to hurt the lower back. Not a sharp pain but a pain.

I would simply avoid the V exercises until you begin to get stronger. There are 1001 "core" exercises you can perform. Check out the book "core performance" by Mark Verstegen. I actually own(ed) 2 copies of this book...I thought I'd loaned it to a friend and was so anxious to get it back I went and bought another before I found the first on my bookshelf.

PDA - I would avoid any exercise that gives you pain but I would work on exercises that target the area (like hyper extensions) unless they give you pain also (!) - but keep in mind that the pain could be caused by your swim position, bike position, run form etc - and it is showing up in these exercises - I agree with the above posters:
1. Have a PT look at it
2. Find out the cause of the pain
3. There are LOTS of core exercises out there including Mark V although I think that your problem is going to pop up until you figure out #2. :-)

Look into your bike position, your form while you are lifting other weights and so on. It's a process of elimination. Good luck
