Overall Rank = 2957/
Age Group = 35-39F
Age Group Rank = 207/262
Pre-race routine:

stretch, pee. I was unable to go to potty because of bad choice of food the night prior- cheese tortellini. I didn't figure it out till later, thought it wasn't enough coffee that I couldn't "go".
Event warmup:

Hung out in convention center, saw two girls from my running club who were running together with their husbands.
Run
  • 1h 42m 47s
  • 9.32 miles
  • 11m 02s  min/mile
Comments:

I was gonna try to keep up with the running club chicks, hence my super fast Mile 1. (yes, for ME at this distance). But they took off and I was alone from Miles 2 till the end. So.....oh, well. I kept to the right and tried to just look around and goof off, but that was distracting, I was cold, I was hot, I was uncomfortable due to the stuff I had on that wasn't used to having on, (but I did LOVE the gloves I bought at the expo!-good choice!). So... about at Mile 6 I told myself, hey, this really sucks, I did the St A's run leg faster than this. So regrouped, and started focusing. Instead of looking out into the bay and at the people and whatever, I stuck to the far right of the road and just zoned out. It was like running with blinders on. Before I knew it, the Mile 7 marker was up. Then the Mile 8 which was a bit faster. I did the last two miles second faster. Maybe Tom is right, I"m better at long distances, but I"m still slow. whatever.
Finished, got picture taken with a couple pirates. Found more guys from Running club and we watched the 5K start. There were folks still crossing the 5K start when the first guy FINISHED!! jeez.... We hung out there for a while then I had to leave to get kids to stuff. I was alone, Tom didn't go.
What would you do differently?:

not have so much crap to lug around. And not eat cheese tortellini the night before. Get a MASSAGE because I"m freaking sore!! I can't seem to stretch the soreness out.

Post race
Warm down:

got my medal, walked around. The food was too freakin' far away from the finish line and wasn't that great.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Fat and slow.

Event comments:

nice race. May do 3 next year? 5,15, half?
