Total Time = 1h 21m 24s
Overall Rank = 26/166
Age Group = M35-39
Age Group Rank = 3/18
Event warmup:

10 - 15 minute run warmup
Swim
  • 08m 23s
  • 400 yards
  • 02m 06s / 100 yards
Comments:

Reverse triathlon format - muscles were tired and fatigued and swimming was just the thing-I-have-to-do-to-finish type of thing.

Form didn't seem all that bad. However, stroke tempo and pull effort were pretty weak.

Time was disappointing, but I think mosts others' times were as well.
Transition 1
  • 00m 40s
Comments:

Stradddled bike before pushing off. Bending over to assist first foot into shoe, I had a bit of a balance issue, but was able to do it.
What would you do differently?:

Put left foot into shoe and then shove off and deal with the right one once going.

Overall, not bad for the first time with these tri shoes and leaving them on the bike.
Bike
  • 49m 52s
  • 15 miles
  • 18.05 mile/hr
Comments:

Bike course is flat and fast, but the strong winds made for a tough time on the bike.
Transition 2
  • 01m 10s
Comments:

Had to take off a helmet, sunglasses, windbreaker, gloves, dryfit shirt, running tights, and socks. Then I had to place my goggles on.
Run
  • 21m 21s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 06m 52s  min/mile
Comments:

Good run, no issues, kept hr at 178-180ish.
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

wind

Event comments:

--This race had the least number of signs/markings etc that I've ever had in a triathlon
--No mile markers on the run (not that I saw anyways)
--Run water station was self serve - never had that before
--Swim format was confusing
--For $60, I was expecting lots of race packet goodies, but it was bare
--For $60, and a bare race packet bag, I was expecting a feast, but it was meager to inadequate. There was practically NOTHING to drink but water. No one was attempting to remix accelerade or gatoraide.

Good Race. You are correct, there were no mile markers on the run. They had them at last months race. But none today, go figure.

Nice job, and even some hardware!  Isn't it funny how slow you feel in the swim?  Even watching from the deck, everyone looks like they're in slow motion.

Great job on placing. Your comments on the race format makes me wonder if I really should do one of their reverse tris.

Solid race. I missed you coming off the bike, so you must have been pretty close to the front. 3'rd in the AG is sweet, did you stay for the awards?

Great race! I didn't know you landed in 3rd, pretty nice. I agree about the disproportionate price to value ratio. I won't be doing another RunBiTri.
