Pre-race routine:

Pre-race night festivities at EMG's and with Conn. BT gang at Fazio's Rest. in Hyannis. Very cool time!!

Had a nice, pleasurable, relaxing breakfast of oatmeal and juice. Leisure travel to the race site (gotta love those Sunday at 10 am races!) Met up with all the BT gang. What a great bunch of peeps!!
Event warmup:

No warm up or stretching. Probably should have, I never learn!! Legs were too tight for the first mile or 2.

Thought I was not dressed enough as the morning was cold. Shorts, long sleeve wicking layer and short sleeve BT T-shirt proved to be just right.

Comments:

Ran the first 5 or so miles with Isis. She set a magnificant pace! I was kinda grumpy and had some tight legs which lent to some negative self-talk for the first few miles.
Hit the split for the 10k-1/2 mary, XO'd the pace rabbit and headed out for the rest of the run. By this time, I was feeling more 'in the groove'. Each mile dropped by and felt as if I could make it in under 2 hrs. Picked up the pace in the final mile or 2 with enough for the finish.
So very nice to have cheerleaders along the way and at the finish. Ultra cool.
What would you do differently?:

Not too much. Maybe a pre-race warm up and stretching. One day I'll get in around 1:45 for 1/2 but for today--the best I could do is BEST!
Post race
Warm down:

Walk around a bit. Enjoy some BT cheering!

Hang out with BT gang for some post-race snacks. Then off to the British Beer Company for some (very slooow service) afternoon lunch with May, Max, Joanne, Scott and Betsy.

As usual, once the gun went off, you were out of sight within 1/4 mile!  Nice race Glen, it was fun hanging around with you as always.  Someday I'll be able to run at your pace, but only when you finally slow down to mine!

Excellant race Glen!

I so see a sub 1:45 1/2 Mary in your future. Another fun BT gathering....it sure does make races more fun.

Glad you pushed the negative self talk away and were able to push it up a notch for last 2 miles and finish strong!

Great race, nice time! Funny b/c the service was SLOW at the Beer Co. Who knew getting some water was so hard? I think JP and I were dehydrated for 2 days after the beer, salty food, and lack of water haha.
