Subject: Best training day yet! If anyone read my very first post, you'll remember that I just had back surgery about 4 months ago (15 weeks and 1 day! ) I started swimming again about 2 months ago, in order to do a 1 mile swim in an Olympic distance tri. Between seeing all the fit people at the triathlon, watching the tour de france and reading Lance Armstrong's "It's not about the bike," I am now super motivated to get back into shape. I'm not training for a specific event right now, but am just focusing on the low-impact swimming and biking.
I've never spent much time road biking before, so I was pretty excited about today's training ride...one hour 16 minutes, 2 mph faster than any ride I've done so far! (10.2 mph if your curious...yes, I'm slow, but riding a moutain bike with slicks and still getting in shape ).
Afterwards, I went to teh pool and did 5 sets of 100s, and without really trying, decreased my 100 yd pace on every subsequent split! (From 2:06 to 1:53 ) then I decided I was really wiped out and came home and ATE! |
