Pre-race routine:

usual 4 cups of coffee! 1/2 power bar. enjoyed sleeping in a bit. got up at 6:30 to allow time for coffee and regular routine. went to race site at 8am for a little warm up and stretching. ended up doing more chatting with people i haven't seen for a while. ran a little about 20 minutes before start.

Comments:

had a lot of fun. went out a little fast but was able to maintain a good pace. first mile was a 7:10 second was 7:30 and third was 7:35. felt very good going into the McDaniel Ave. hill. i was at 37:42 at mile 5 and knew i was going to have to empty the tanks to hit the goal! it was a blur, but i did it!

headed for the massage table to work on the left calf cramp.

I love the "peek through" picture! I saw the picture when it was published but never looked close enough. Great job and nice time. Next time I'm at an event in the area I'll have to look for some guy bent over at the starting line.
