I'm enjoying a nice cup right now as I read through everyone's coffee habits. I usually have anywhere from 1-4 per day, but I drink way too much diet coke on top of that. We all have our VICES!!!! Don't we?

Depends upon of it is a "coffee day" or a "diet coke day" about once or twice a week, I will have a "coffe day" that consists of 3 or 4 22 oz glasses... Diet coke - well that is entirely different level of habit...

MForger18 - 2007-03-06 8:12 PM Just to give a little insight on the size of "mugs." I checked all of the mugs that I have (travel mugs) and they are all over 14 oz. Most 3 are 16oz, and 1 is 24oz. Considering that a cup of coffee is only 5oz thats a lot of coffee. I am guilty of drinking my fair share but lets not forget that caffeine can boost your mind, energy, metabolism, and black coffee is virtually calorie free. The creams, sugars and flavorings are what kills it for us. Caramel machiatos from starbucks, or any coffee drink from starbucks that is hard to spell is probably the coffee drink that gives coffee a bad rep. Drink on Coffee lovers, I know I will be......

Have to admit that I LOVE lattes, hot or iced, but always skim.  Nutritionally I prefer to think of it as a caffeinated glass of milk

I've never liked the stuff!
I don't like tea either, weird for an Englishman, eh?

It's not the caffine, I'll pop a Red Bull every now and then if I'm feeling sluggish!

1 mug (10-12 oz); French Roast or comparable (read: dark, strong); 4 scoops of coffee (read: really, really strong); black.  Like I said, only one cup in the morning, but *every* day...

(if you skip the weekends you're not really a coffee drinker ;-

Oddly, the only negative effect I have if I stop is that I have that groggy, just woke up feeling until early afternoon.  While unpleasant, I've always been a bit surprised it wasn't a more dramatic response.

2007 is my year of dabbling in being 'straight-edge' (no alcohol, recreational drugs, etc. - just dopamine and endorphins Tongue out).  I might add coffee to the list just to be completely disruptive...

This thread really blew up. I wrote the question yesterday because I was being lazy and enjoying a nice cup o' joe. Seems coffee is the magical drink for triathletes. Anyway, I was a geography major in college and with this question, I started looking into coffee and blah blah blah. Anyway, I read on some site that cheaper brands of coffee, (many from Vietnam) actually have soil and ground rock in their coffee. Be careful with the brands that you choose, unless you dont care aboiut what your coffee tastes like. Better companies will ONLY have ground beans.

I have about 3-5 cups a day in the winter. Now that the weather is warming up, I will slowly move to about 1 cup a day in the summer.

I use Starbucks Espresso Roast. Whole Bean. I grind it only when I use it. Then use a reuseable Gold Mellita Filter. Mmmmmmmmmm!!! I drink it black. Gave up sugar to save my teeth.

I drink about 4 cups per day. I like my coffee like I like my women, cold and bitter.

2 oz of espresso in the morning. (cappuccino)

And then 32 oz of decaf through the rest of the day. (black)

5 oz servings!?!?! That's not a cofee serving - it's a pre coffee appetizer.

I guesstimate somewhere around 50 oz a day. Coffee is my life blood.

I will NEVER understand diet coke. Tastes horrible, and contrary to what coke would like you to think, is worse for you than coke, and doesn't help with weight loss.

Then again, I don't drink any soda...

I don't drink soda except for a "treat" Coke Classic once in a very long while.

I used to drink Diet Coke many many (many) years ago when I was in HS. My horrible breakfast every day for years was a Diet Coke and a Poppyseed Bagel.  OMG. I want to travel back in time and slap myself.

My dad can drink an entire 2-liter bottle of (warm - double yuck) Diet Coke a day.  Plus coffee.   Gah!  His travel "mug" is a (not kidding) 32 oz container.  He fills it up and probably puts in 10+ packets of sweetener.  *shudder*

I've heard a few statements like this recently. While diet coke clearly doesn't do anything to affirmatively help with weight loss (just drinking it doesn't burn calories), surely it will help as a substitute for those who would be drinking regular coke anyway.

Diet coke has zero calories, and regular coke has something like a bazillion.

Personally I love the stuff

Yeah, I've heard aspartame makes you die 38 years early.

It is strange, because I never drink coffee at home.  Usually when I make a pot at home, I forget that I started it and move on to other things, then realize there is a full pot of coffee after the burner shuts off and it is cold.

At work, I drink between 2 cups and all day always black.  I guess you could say that I have aproblem with coffee if it is conveniently there.

Today I decided to cut out coffee and had a nice cup of Green Tea.  Warning, don't drink strong green tea on an empty stomach.

Here is an interesting article I found on aspartame. Not to stir the pot... it outlines both viewpoints.
