SETUP INC
Sunny
Total Time = 1h 10m 36s
Overall Rank = 121/489
Age Group = M30-34
Age Group Rank = 12/28
Pre-race routine:

Shoot the breeze with Jeff & Craig.
Event warmup:

Was just going to swim a bit to warm up, but a kid pooped in the warmup pool. No biggie.
Swim
  • 08m 29s
  • 500 yards
  • 01m 42s / 100 yards
Comments:

I think my seeding was accurate, but the people in front of me were not. ;) I passed 6 or 8 people on the swim including a number of people doing the frigging breast stroke. I was not kind. Beat my goal time, so that's good.
Transition 1
  • 01m 20s
Comments:

Put on my vest to try to stay warm on the bike. Probably a good idea.
Bike
  • 35m 47s
  • 12.43 miles
  • 20.84 mile/hr
Comments:

I left some out there, for sure. Avg power was 205, norm power was 213. I was aiming for 220-225. I think I could have picked up at least a minute on the course. :(
What would you do differently?:

Drill it.
Transition 2
  • 01m 3s
Run
  • 23m 59s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 07m 43s  min/mile
Comments:

I did fine on the run. Needed to keep my cadence up a bit more. Should probably have gone harder once it flattened out towards the end. Eh, at least my knee didn't hurt me.

HR Data? My HR strap spent the swim around my waist. I'm lucky it didn't end up at the bottom of the 17 foot deep section. The picture of me trying to put it back on should be fantastic.

Great race yesterday! Looks like you beat your time for last year even if you didn't hit it on the bike like you had hoped. You crushed that miserable run course though! Excellent!

PS -- My pre-race warm-up consisted of me running around the HFFA looking for Jeff to take my keys back to the transition area. Now I know why I couldn't find him -- he was shooting the breeze with you.

Good job! You had a busy week prior to the race, and you held it together well. Glad the knee didn't give you any troubles. See ya 'round the pool.
