Overcast
Total Time = 25m 57s
Overall Rank = 320/897
Age Group = F 19-29
Age Group Rank = 10/63
Pre-race routine:

Drank a mocha around 8 this morning then ate a bagel around 11. Drove into Hartford with my dad and C, parked in my company garage, called Pam.
Event warmup:

Pam and I ran around the block to get warmed up, then we lined up and fidgeted until the start.
Run
  • 25m 57s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 08m 20s  min/mile
Comments:

I am really happy with this race! I felt good warming up so I just went out hard. I ran the first mile in about 8:03, which was a little too fast, so I cut back just a bit and maintained a solid pace. Beat my previous 5K PR by almost 2 minutes! I think I have matured as a runner, mentally. I can push myself harder now and keep going even when I want to slow down. I think a season of triathlons and 2 longer road races (the 10 miler and the half) helped me mature.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing!
Post race
Warm down:

Found C and my dad, got a water, then found Pam and congratulated her on her new PR! We rocked it today!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Nothing.

Event comments:

There was a mile marker at mile 1 but I did not see one at mile 2, which messed up my pacing a little. Overall this was a good early-season race. The HMF seems to put on a good show.

The mental aspect of running is huge and it great to see you making such an improvement.  2 min pr is just ridiculous and well deserved.
