I can't really pick a favorite or least favorite. Each place had its pros & cons.

Colorado has been my favorite, although I missed being near a beach when I was there.  No place I didn't like.  Moved a lot as a kid and that has continued as an adult. Came to realize that places are about people.  Everyplace has great its wonderful people and its a##holes and the trick to enjoying where you're living is to form a social circle of people you like.

Born in Denver, CO...father was an Air Force pilot so we moved a bit; since then,

• Atwater, CA (middle of 8th through end of frosh year in HS - moving from VA to CA during the middle of my 8th grade year SUCKED...left all of my friends/the people I'd gone to school with since 3rd grade)
• (back to) Alexandria, VA (soph year in HS through graduation)
• Charlottesville, VA (college)
• metro-Atlanta, GA (post-college and first three years of marriage)
• Alpharetta, GA (when daughter was 1, moved to the 'burbs)

As you can see we moved alot while I was growing up.  Sometimes I really looked forward to moving as it was very hard for me to adjust.  I enjoyed starting over!

I can honestly say I like all of these places... loved the experience of living and traveling abroad.  D.C. metro provided amazing access to all things political and cultural, my UMD days will always be near and dear to my heart (even if Butler did not Fear the Turtle enough ), and the Atlanta 'burbs are incredibly family-oriented, the cost of living is low, and I'm partial to the mild winters.

I haven't lived many places, but visited a fair number of them, including Newburg, NY, Panama, Honduras, Tobago, and several places in the U.S.  I can live anywhere, so long as there's a nice quiet pub right around the corner.  At this point, it's all the same to me anymore.

1992-1994 (20-21): Houghton, Michigan

1994-1996 (21-23): Roseville, Minnesota

1996-2001 (23-28): Cottage Grove, Minnesota

2001-2002 (28-29): Prescott, Wisconsin

2002-2003 (29-30): Cottage Grove, Minnesota (again)

2003-present: Hastings, Minnesota

So I never moved at all until I was almost 20, and I've pretty much spent the last 13 years making up for it. (There are a couple other summer moves for internships and whatnot that I didn't even list as they were only three month stretches.)

Tampa growing up till 18

Wallingford, CT -18-19 - went to a boarding school for a year after high school to get gpa up. 

Memphis, TN - 19 - 24 - college and stayed there for a few years after

Tampa, 24 - present - Missed being in my hometown so I came back.  It is nice to be where you have roots.

Favorite - Tampa but I had way too much fun in Memphis (probably my friends rather than the city)

Worst _Walingford, CT  Absolutely hated it.  Cold grey full of a$$holes.  Made me realize I would never live above the Mason Dixon line.  But going there was good because I was going to go to college up there, after that year I made a beeline for the South. 

Born in Taipei, Taiwan, then to: Bayonne, NJ -> Monterey, CA -> Twin Cities, MN -> Monterey, CA -> Twin Cities, MN while my dad was in the Navy (got out when I was 12).

Then moved to another part of the Twin Cities until college.

Then Boston for college (first attempt).

Then the Navy (after I failed out of college) sent me to Chicago -> Orlando -> Charleston, SC -> Bremerton, WA.

Now back in MN.

I don't remember much of it, but my folks claim that Bayonne, NJ is the armpit of western civilization (at least it was in the mid-70's, I'm sure it is much nicer now). My brother was born there and spent the first two years of his life sick, which was immediately remedied by moving away.

I guess I enjoyed the Puget Sound area the most - reasonable weather (a bit wet but never too cold) and close to the ocean.

I was technically born in West Allis, WI, although I lived in Milwaukee, WI up until I was 18. 

18 - 23 - Madison, WI.  Went to UW, then worked for a year there

23 - present: Richmond, VA

I'd like to have lived in more places. 

0-2  Burlington, Iowa (born a hawkeye by mom and dad)

2-18 Tulsa, Oklahoma (this is my true hometown, a fine place to grow up)

18-22 Denver, Colorado (I wish this had been my hometown, a lovely place to come of age)

22-26 Oakland/Berkeley, California (everyone thinks this is my hometown even when they've been told about Tulsa, Burlington, etc.)

27-32 Somerville/Cambridge, Massachusetts (I call this home for now, but know I'll probably leave New England sometime in the next 5 years)

I'd love to live in California or Colorado again.  Oregon or Idaho could be nice, too.

22 to present:  Denver, CO and its lovely suburbs.

I always say I'm from Boulder, but I have officially lived longer outside of Boulder.  That's odd to say.

Almost moved to Gaithersburg MD at 15, but my parents didn't want to move me just as I was beginning HS.  They didn't ask, but I wanted to go.
