Subject: PET FOOD RECALL..PLEASE READ IF YOU HAVE PETS

For those of you who may have not heard, there is a major pet food recall happening for both cat and dog food.  If you feed you animals any of the food specified in the link below, please STOP and swtich foods.  There are about 42 cat food brands and about 51 dog food brands.  Tainted brands have been causing kidney failure in animals and I think around 10 animals have died so far.  Please look at the link below.

Sorry if this has been posted before, but I think it is worth repeating.  This has been your friendly PSA for the day

Glad to see that Nine Lives brand kitty food is NOT on the recall list!

Other pet parents should take notice of the off-brand foods that are on the kitty list; maybe there are big name brands on the dog list, but I didn't see any for the cats.

This is causing quite a bit of stress for us at work. While we only feed Eukanuba dry (Wellness canned) one of the rescue organizations we work with has been using the Eukanuba in the foil pouches which are on the list. Rescues provide us with food to give their dogs, so we just feed whatever they give us. 2 dogs that we have, one since Thanksgiving, and one since Valentine's Day, have been eating the food the entire time they've been with us. Naturally as soon as the story broke we threw out all the tainted food, but now we're nervous. Crossing our fingers that none of the dogs in the rescue league have been harmed by this.

Aaack! The Iams food I buy is on the list and I checked the code numbers of the cans I bought and it is the recalled batch! My cat Coco, whom I nursed back to health a few months ago, has eaten one of the cans in the batch! I will have to keep a close eye on her. Keep your fingers crossed that she doesn't get sick..Frown

I don't know if this is a duplicate or not, but I will say it anyway.  I heard today from the Texas A&M Small Animals Clinic that this recall is restricted to wet or canned foods only.  If you are feeding your dog these foods you should visit the website that kesa has posted and check to see if you are on it or switch to dry until it all gets sorted out.  Sorry if this is a duplicate.  Thanks for bringing this to our attention kesa.  I hadn't heard about it until you posted.
