Starting April 16th or so, I am on a quest to find the best Carne Asada Burrito. I figure I have a month or so while I recover, so that doesn't leave much time. Anybody in the Tempe area that knows of a place, please let me know

Very vague projections here...

Swim 1:20-1:30

Bike 7:30-8:30

Run 5:40-6:30

Transitions ~:16 total

Best I could possibly do is 15:00, setting my sorta goal at 15:30, but only REAL goal is to finish under 17:00 with a smile.

I don't know about the best, but every time I'm in Tempe I hit Some Burros. http://someburros.com/ Love their veggie burritos!

Sorry but I can't come up with any good carne asada places that are along the race route to put on the map.

A good place though is to hit Van Buren (just follow Mill Ave in Tempe and when you get to Phoenix it is Van Buren) and go down to 13th Street. La Tolteca. Very good mexican food. From the outside it doesn't appear that it will be so good. Also Los Dos Molinas.... Alma School just South of Main Street.

Does anyone have landmarks other than In & Out that they would like placed on the map?

Not racing this year but did in '06 . .For you first timers, like I was:

The layout of T1 is not super spread out but it did take a little more time than I expected to get everything taken care of, esp. if you're in the 'bulge' segment of people getting out of the water in 1:05 to 1:20 or so. Realistically, if it takes 7-10 mins. here, don't be surprised, esp. if you're paying attention to details like putting on sunscreen before you leave the tent.

T2 is faster, but there's still a little real estate you have cover to get to the timing mat, so 5 minutes would still be very respectable.

I checked the T1/T2 times for Kona qualifiers from last year and 4'30"/2'30" seemed about typical. For non-Kona candidates, like me, times around 10'+/7'+ were common and some very respectable finishing times had transitions much slower than that.

Good luck! I'm jealous of all you racers!
