my husband was asking me what i do and thought it was a good question for the boards. i've been letting my chrono run when i've had to stop at a light or whatever, so maybe i'm running faster than i think? if i have to stop while biking, my cyclometer automatically stops the time for me. i usually have my stopwatch going on my watch also, and often i can have up to 10 minutes of stop time on a longer ride.

ps. excuse the typo - 'intil' should be 'until' :-O

Other. Move to the country, where those pesky stoplights won't bother you.

I'm out in the sticks. I'd have to run a long way for this to be an issue.

I have run where stoplights were a factor. I'd often make a turn and circle the block rather than get caught.

At the end of my street, if I turn right, there's a light a couple hundred yards down. If I go left, I'm told I'd eventually get to a town with a stop light. I go left. Haven't found the town yet.

I hit the lap button when the traffic is bad.  In Atlanta, I can wait for more than a minute to cross the street.  It makes me feel a little less slow to subtract it off at the end.

I'll turn around and run about 50-100 meters, then turn back. Normally, I have a green light then. However, I'm much more comfortable running through the park. Less noxious fumes, I can smile at people (or dogs and bunnies) when I pass, no obnoxious music booming from some kid's car.

I run a 3 mile circuit of a small lake (traffic lights a non-issue).

I'll alter my route a little to avoid stopping. I do think hard about stopping at every light though - Red, Green, Yellow. Doesn't matter.

The voices work overtime during the run.

I stop my timer for stop lights and water breaks. I'm very conscious of my time, but in this heat and on my long runs, I MUST be careful about hydration. So, I feel better about stopping at the bathrooms and drinking all I feel I need and even dunking my head in the sink if I know the clock isn't running the whole time. It's actually harder to get started again after stopping so I think that makes up for the pause. Besides, I want to know my running pace, not my running, peeing, head-dunking, water-guzzling pace.

My bike computer automatically stops once the wheels quit rolling. This encourages me to come to a screeching halt instead of a meandering slowdown at lights. ;-)

I stop, but some city streets don't have them.... they have STOP signs, which some drivers seem to ignore!

I let it run. On the smaller red lights, I run through them. I know it's a bad thing to do

I let my watch run unless I'm running with my dog Rudi and he has to stop and to a "big" job. Which usually happens within the first mile.

I cross train tracks. I swear a train goes past every time I'm on the "wrong" side. It usually means I just end up walking another 5 minutes after my run to get home, still annoying.

Although, running next to a train does give me a shot of adrenaline.

Most of my running is on the track (I live on school property) but on the street, I'll let it run.
On the bike, the cyclometer keeps track so I don't have to...

I stop the watch. I like to time how long i was RUNNING, not how long i've been away from the house. Usually, i just scan the road as i'm approaching and then gun it between cars. i live in an area where this is possible (although some drivers would question that). but i feel like it's MY road, so they can yield to me.
