Age Group Rank = 7/7
Pre-race routine:

Working through a duathlon plan prescribed by BT.com
Event warmup:

- 5 minute slow jog

Run
  • 30m 49s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 09m 55s  min/mile
Comments:

I was a bit disappointed in this run, although, I wasn't expecting much better. I would have like to have been sub-30 minute but, given the fact that I raced yesterday, I was happy with the run I had. I kicked it hard the last bit (probably from the 3-mile mark to finish) and paid for it with a cramped quad at the finish line. Not a bad run overall. Tim (1st Timer in NY) and I took turns pacing each other.
What would you do differently?:

Not race a 5K the day before :)
Post race
Warm down:

- cheered on some more runners
- walked around for 5-minutes
- stretched for 5-minutes

What limited your ability to perform faster:

- running a race the day before
- not hydrating or stretching enough the day before
- losing an extra 20-30lbs would probably help too :)

Event comments:

The organization and more thorough attention to detail made this race much better than the one the day before. In hindsight, the St. Patty's Day race was a bit more disorganized than I realized.

This race was great.

Nice job Tim!

Running
00:30:49 | 03.11 miles | 09m 55s  min/mile
Age Group: 7/7
Overall: 88/137
Performance: Good
1st mile - 10:25 2nd mile - 20:05
Course: Flat course run on a major road that was completely shutdown. The mile markers were VERY clear with digital readouts at each marker giving the runners their time. Very nice. Given a completely fresh set of legs, this could be a very fast course. That being said, I can see why many of the 1/2 marathoners consider this race more of a boring run. It definitely lacks any kind of scenery or running 'through hill and dale' type of feel.

Great job Dan!!  Hopefully we can pace each other to sub 25-26 min times some day!  Good luck with your training and I hope to see you at more races.

Nice work. I had a cramp in my calf at mile one and thought I might have to turn the half into a 5k. Luckly it settled down shortly after the turn.
