The ING Georgia Marathon & Half Marathon
60F / 16C
Sunny
Total Time = 1h 42m 16s
Overall Rank = 749/
Age Group = M30-35
Age Group Rank = 210/
Pre-race routine:

Drove downtown, ran into tons of people that I knew. Checked my bag and hit the port-o-jon.
Event warmup:

Stretched and stood around.
Run
  • 1h 42m 16s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 07m 49s  min/mile
Comments:

Felt good starting the run. We didn't start running until 10 minutes after the gun went off. First 4 miles were spent running around and laterally rather than just straight forward.
What would you do differently?:

Try and get more toward the front next time.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked from the finish line to the food.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Crowd at the beginning and the fact I am recovering from being sick last week. That being said I am pretty pleased with my time eventhough I was shooting for sub 1:40.

Event comments:

For a first race this went off pretty well, I will be doing it again next year.

Nicely done ... what you didn't factor into your sub-1:40 goal was that the course was a little tougher than originally billed.  Add to that the throng of people and crowded water stops and you have more than 120 seconds.

A good inaugural race for ING.  See you there next year.

Another rocket race for Rocket Man... good job on the race. I think you would have easily broke 1:40 if you started WAY up front with me. Congrats on your race. I hope you're feeling better now.

Awesome job!  I heard that it was a tough course.  Plus 1:40 is a very respectable time.  I can't wait to get in some training session with you and the club.
