Swim
Comments: Still my weakest area - lose strength quickly it seems in my shoulders. could be my weak bicep tendon on my right arm. What would you do differently?: More training, maybe a lesson Transition 1
Comments: T1 was actually run to bike. Tried my shoes preclipped to bike for the 1st time and that worked well. Grabbed 3 shot bloks and gobbled them down. What would you do differently?: Work more on jumping on bike, riding out w/feet on pedals first then put into shoes. Should have grabbed an energy bar too. Gotta nail down a good drink. Bike
Comments: since my energy level was low to start with and this was a reverse tri, felt my quads/legs burn out quickly. What would you do differently?: train more on these kinds of hills - more weights maybe for quads? Transition 2
Comments: T2 was bike to swim. shoes, helemt and shirt off well. A little crowded getting through transition area. Run
Comments: under 50 degrees and very dewy at the start hadn't trained on hills What would you do differently?: train on more varied terrain Post race
Warm down: hot shower (they had great locker room facilites at the community center) Free chair massage - EVERY race should offer this (free for participants of course!) What limited your ability to perform faster: bad sleep the night before, cramps, not enough water the day before, skipped lunch the day before, not the best dinner choice (greek food - I thought it would be ok, but woke up extremely dry mouth) Event comments: No expo to speak of, not even a gear vendor for those who forgot theirs. I left my number belt and bike gloves at home and would have bought them there. No music, would have liked some. Last updated: 2007-03-23 12:00 AM

This is my first race of the season after a weak winter w/little training, lots of eating and 2 colds. Since it's a revers Tri (run-bike-swim) and in a pool, I can't really compare it to my others. My goal this year is one Tri a month (Mar - Oct/Nov 2007) but there are significant changes in my personal life that may impact training/racing schedule. 2nd goal is to move up from sprint distance to international (or whatever is next) at the end of 07 season.
Week before race, trained daily at race distance, cut back on alcohol (1 glass for entire week) and focused diet on proteins, lots of fluids & energy bars. Felt good. Wanted to test out performance drinks (cytomax, etc) but didnt get to it. Have found I can tolerate Zone Perfect and Clif bars well. Looking forward to hilly-ness of course as I train on PV Peninsula.
Very uncomfortable night before the race and didn't take anything.
Poor sleep and still in a little pain the morning I woke up.
Stretching, light run
