Run
Comments: My goal was to learn my LT. I started in the high 160s and felt pretty good. When I got to mile 1 I was doing about 8:45 mile pace which was much faster than I expected.(I thought I'd be 9:00-9:30) I felt good so I kept that heart rate. As I came to any "hills" my HR would go up to about 175 and the long upgrade from mile 2-3 I kept the 175 HR. I felt like I could keep 175 so I did. I kept imagining it was the "last mile home" on a training run so I kept pushing pretty good. The last 300 yds I pushed hard and got my HR to the high 180s. (MHR 188) What would you do differently?: Maybe push a little harder? I really wanted to make sure I could maintain the HR so I knew my LT for future training. I didn't want to have to back off later in the race. Post race
Warm down: Walked the track a bit and cheered others on as they came in. Stretched a little in the parking lot. What limited your ability to perform faster: If anything training. I'm happy with my race though. Event comments: Only 1 aid station. Only a 5k so I understand but I heard people looking for water on the return and there was none left at that station. No after race activities that I saw. I wanted to leave though so I didn't look very hard. Last updated: 2007-03-05 12:00 AM
