I am VERY undecided.  I started a thread in tri talk to opinions on what is too cold.

I am not a strong swimmer................. Yikes!!!

I wonder which race will be the official race for awards.

I might regret this Saturday morning, but I am going to swim. I don't understand shortening the swim distance either. It does not seem to be by an amount that would make much difference.

I am now on the fence! I spoke w/ a former pro triathlete & friend who has been helping my husband & I in our IM training (he has been to Kona several times) he said he would bag the swim - not risking hypothermia & reprocussions when this is our "B" race - not to risk missed training time for the full IM. Aaaah, now I just don't know what to do!!

there is nothing wrong with doing the du. especially if this is just a training race. i just don't understand the shortened swim.

i still plan on swimming, but haven't decided on renting a full wetsuit and buying a cap yet.

The hourly forcast (on Weather.com) puts the outside temp at 42 at 7 am - I'm just not sure. Anyone know of any other local half IM races between now & end of June? If there was another open I might just do the du and keep my focus on IMKY. For me the bike & run are much more challenging anyway. Funny as a strong swimmer I am considering not doing it because I don't know that I need that part as much as the bike & run.

These are about as local as I could find:

Black Bear HIM - 6/3 - Lehighton, PA

WV Mountaineer HIM - 7/1 - Morgantown, WV - The bike course sounds really challenging.

I would love to hear about any others that might be out there that are not too far from here. And are still open!

We are on our way!! If I swim I'll be in a silver colored DeSoto wetsuit, if not look for me on my bumblebee black & yellow cervelo bike, I'll be the one "pacing myself" i.e. going slow!!

Yes I am just about to leave too. I will be riding the Navy Blue and Yellow Elite bike. We got a cabin at the park so it should be a fun triathlon filled weekend! Two of us are doing the half (me and Jdalley) and two others are doing the sprint (dave699 and vbtrigirl).

Yes that was us! Funny, small world. No kids were bothering us, we didn't hear anything. You may have heard us on Saturday night cooking out with the Revolution Cycles crew.
