Tri It Now
50F / 10C
Sunny
Total Time = 39m 41s
Overall Rank = 166/232
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 13/17
Pre-race routine:

A banana, a little water and a packet of "jelly beans". Since this was my first triathlon I had no idea what I was doing so I talked with a few folks sharing the rack. Set up my transition area and wandered aimlessly until the pre-race meeting.
Event warmup:

Some stretching and that was about it... This will change!
Swim
  • 10m 4s
  • 250 yards
  • 04m 02s / 100 yards
Comments:

The swim split included the transition time. Since this was my first tri I had o idea what to expect. Being a reverse added to the unknown. I ended up doing the last 150 yards breaststroke becuase I pooped out.

They call ed this a tune-up tri and I figured a lot out and now know where I need to put emphasis in my training.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

Reverse so this was from run to bike. Had a really bad knot in my right quad. Took off my running hat and put on my sunglasses and helmet. Time included in bike portion
Bike
  • 18m 18s
  • 4 miles
  • 13.11 mile/hr
Comments:

Took about half of the course to get rid of the know in my right quad. Found another deficiency in my training. I need more intervals and optimally real bike time instead of a stationary bike. Now that the weather is getting better that should be easy.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

This was from biking to swim. Stripped down and ran to the pool. Time included in swim portion.
Run
  • 11m 19s
  • 1.4 miles
  • 08m 05s  min/mile
Comments:

Got a really bad know in my right quad about 3/4 of the way through. tried to work it out. Overall pleased with the run.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe some more stretching and a bit more warm up...
Post race
Warm down:

Not a whole lot... Grabbed a banana, bagel with peanut butter and chilled for a bit.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I'd like to blame the knot in my quad, but I had'nt been on a real bike in a year and my swim needs a lot of work... The Mini in June will be a good benchmark of my progression.

Event comments:

Since this was my first tri, I have nothing to compare it to... I had fun and I can't wait to do this same course only in the correct order in June.

Congratulations!  I think there were one or two other BT'ers there too.  (Not me.)
