I'm using it but, like Mac, I plan on keeping to it for volumes mostly.  I have a swim coach for my swim workouts and am still trying to work around an issue with my right lower leg that won't seem to resolve.  As such I'm more concerned with the volumes then intensities when it comes to the run right now.  I may be more focused on that if I can get my legs healthy.

Cyclingmaniac - 2007-03-29 1:43 AM  Anyone else schedule "training triathlons"?

I have a few shorter distance races I will be doing (sprints, 2 1/2 Mary's, and 1 Oly).  My first 1/2 Mary isn't for another 3 weeks, but I can already tell I am more ready for it that I was for the one I ran in January.

I have made some edits to the plan as well.  I use it more as a guide.  I need to have 1 day off, and I like doing all of my long workouts on the weekends, so I just moved some things around and tried to keep the volume the same

I used it last year for my first HIM but mostly as a guideline.  I did modify it greatly, especially in the cycle training.  I often did more cycling than the plan called for.  It is neither a good nor a bad plan but a general one.  Each person has to modify to suit his/her schedule and needs.

Well I am mostly using the HIM as training for an Oly if you can do a HIM you can do an oly and hopely faster than just traiing for an Oly alone.

I'm starting the Beginner HIM plan on 4/22 and very much looking forward to it. I already get butterflies thinking about doing a freakin' HIM but I know that if I follow the plan, I'll have no problem on race day. I plan on using HR as my primary guide throughout my training. Plus, I just got a new Garmin Forerunner 305 and have to try to use that to its fullest potential.

I, too, thought about using the Gold HIM plan but that one seems a little aggressive for me at this point in my tri career and involves entirely too much swimming!

Thanks to all for the feedback on the plan. I'll have to dissect it this weekend and consider adding some long rides and, perhaps, runs.

Cheers!

Tom
